"Great Product"
Pros: Screen, Size, Specs, Battery Options
Cons: Loud HD, Few Problems at first
Summary: Well, I bought this laptop because I loved the specs on it - and I loved the price for those specs. The laptop is light, it has a 533mhz FSB processor, which you cannot find in many laptops yet, it had 533mhz DDR ram, which is awsome, Dual Layer DVD Burner, and that amazing new Ultra Bright Screen which is so crisp. The laptop overall works well, very fast, and seems to handle a lot that I throw at it (some games, office, internet, music). The speakers are placed kind of facing the bottom of the laptop, which is kind of weird considering you want your speakers to be as close to ear level as possible for better hearing. The screen is a very good size and so is the keyboard. I installed Diablo 2 on the laptop, it plays it with no problem, but I was a little disappointed with the "crispness" of the graphics, the colors are a little off, but that does not affect game play at all. After all, what was I expecting out of a shared graphics card. But I have seen better. The battery life is pretty good with the 9 cell battery (3.5 hours), if I had known the optional 12 cell was the same size, I would have gotten that one - be prepared to have the laptop weigh quite a bit mroe than you'd expect with the extended batteries though.
When I first got the laptop, there was a graphics driver problem, which I could not figure out for the life of me - it was making the screen turn black every few minutes while playing a DVD - I even got a new Laptop from Gateway for my trouble that still had the same problem. Gateway could not help me with this problem at all. I finally went to the intel website and downloaded a new driver for the graphics card and that fixed the problem. Certain people at Gateway were willing to help me and some people did not want to bother - Its all about who you get.
Overall, I think for business use, and students, this laptop would be an excellent buy. It works great!
