"A great notebook!" on by gouldj

Pros: Light, great screen, fast, great placement of buttons, fingerprint reader, ect.

Cons: Every device that I have plugged in (mouse, keyboard....) has had to download a driver, but it worked fine after.

Summary: This is a great Windows Vista business laptop! It is very lightweight and portable, and all of my devices that I have used on the machine so far have worked great. Vista is fast on this machine, and the computer downloaded the drivers automatically for the devices as soon as I plugged them in. I haven't had any laqgtime yet running multiple programs, and the Aero interface is great. Overall, I would recommend this laptop to any business professional that needs mobility and speed in a notebook.

"Better flexibility and perrformance for less than competitors" on by bwimann

Pros: Good performance, solid construction, plenty of ports, enterprise level security and management features, comfortable keyboard, adding the optional ultra battery provides best-in-class battery life

Cons: Awkward fingerprint reader placement, average single-battery life, heavy with ultra battery

Summary: As an IT support manager and buyer for the traveling workers at my company, I needed to balance the needs of the users and my own sanity. The 6910p offered good performance, portability, durability, and excellent battery life when the optional ultra battery is attached to the bottom. This was key for the users, as they could easily remove it when it wasn't necessary, and it provided an additional 8+ hours of battery life when they did. The enterprise security, management and support features help to make my life easier. While it's built well, it's not as durable as a Thinkpad. But at several hundred dollars less than the Thinkpad, it more than holds its own in terms of features and design. If money is no object, you're hard on your laptop and you don't need to go an entire day without plugging into the wall, the Thinkpad will suit you well. But in terms of performance, features and flexibility that will suit everyone, the HP can't be beat.

"Very pleased with both design and performance" on by dchasef

Pros: Attractive design; Easy to use; Fast; QUIET!!

Cons: Touch sensitive volume could be designed better

Summary: I have looked for a laptop for law school over the summer. Having worked with a Dell D630, I was almost sold, but the HP has proven to be much more reliable. While the D630 has many positive aspects, the HP has been a much more reliable machine. I believe that CNET's review rates the D630 too high and the 6910p too low. This is a reasonably priced laptop with conservative appeal. I am very pleased with my purchase.

"Great Buy, Excellent Build" on by Bluestealth

Pros: Inexpensive, Great build quality, Good Keyboard Layout, Full Enterprise Security

Cons: Battery life could be a bit better

Summary: I found that the HP 6910p had a better build quality then the Dell D630, as well as being cheaper for the feature set I desired. In fact for all of the features they pack into this thing it is VERY cheap.
It also looks a lot better, and doesn't have an odd battery jutting out the front to get its decent battery life.
It is very quiet, even when pushed to full utilization, and is quite fast for such a light laptop.
The keyboard is a joy to use, and I never find myself stumbling to look for a key.
As with the nc6400, its fingerprint reader is placed in a strange spot where your palm will sometimes rest, but otherwise works very well.
The new touch sensitive quick launch keys... take a little bit of getting used to, especially the volume control, but its only a minor flaw.
If you don't mind how your computer looks, works, or feels get the Dell; otherwise go for the T61 or 6910p.

"Poor display, highly ineffective wireless" on by silal

    Pros: - not too heavy
    - keys are nice to feel
    - option between trackpad and those ibm-styled track knobs
    - decent graphics card
    - SD, MMC & SC card readers

Cons: - ineffective wireless - does not work over longer distances where other laptops work
    - dust and dirt magnet
    - nothing great to look at
    - display is quite poor with unclear screen colors and low brightness
    - no power-saving options
    - no camera

Summary: I got this laptop from my office and they had uninstalled the Windows Vista and installed Windows XP instead. Even then, the computer start-up was quite slow and I imagine it would be much slower with Vista.
An even bigger disappointment was the wireless which refused to detect my wirless's signal at "Low".
All in all, just enough to make do, I suppose.
