Summary: What can I say. I had a nice HP nc6000 at work which was a standard screen size, solid and just worked (except for the cheap RAM issues which was a corporate issue, not HP's). Now I get this piece of junk. For work, the nc6000 was fast enough and had great screen resolution. This wide screen ATI peice of junk is a waste. My computer is larger (ie wider) but the font size at the default 1440 is so small, I get a headache 1 hour into the day. So here I sit at a fuzzy 1024x768 wasting the added width. My SUN, Apple and HP workstations can deal with wide screen, my Apple Mac Book has a gorgeous wide screen and my older HP while smaller, had a gorgeous screen. Even my 12inch iBook has a better video than this. Whats with this thing? I like the keyboard, its big. The Delete key is pretty close to being in the correct place. The adjacent finger scrolling on the trackpad is an OK copy of Apples (which has been out for 3 years plus in Apple land), but it is just OK on this machine. No where near the fineness of the Apple trackpad. Other than the wasted screen realestate due to either a louzy LCD, or bad drivers, the PC is OK. Sort of a mediocre machine. If I had purchased it, I would have returned it. But it is my corporate machine on a 3 years lease. It will be a joyous day in three years when I get to turn it back in and get a replacement. I will learn to live with mediocrity until then. I trust I will turn out more than mediocre work between now and then.

Pros: Sturdy, still runs XP pro, nice keyboard, very good speed for average user, wireless integrated, big keys on keyboard, nice screen, pretty lightweight too, decent hard drive storage.

Cons: Not an attractive looking computer (not sleek), touch pad a bit akward, too many busy function keys at the top of the machine, not enough USB ports, came with replacement power cord.

Summary: I bought a refurbished unit for my boyfriend. He was using a dinosaur, and this was a big upgrade for only about 200 dollars. It's not the newest computer on the market, but after adding some memory to it, I find it's quite nice for browsing the web, watching videos, listening to music, or pretty much anything else the average home (or even business) user would want these days.

I don't really like all the extra "function" buttons at the top, and the outside case is pretty much indestructible, but not too sleek to look at. Maybe get a skin for it if you want it to look more sleek as a personal user. It's easy to type on, and everything my boyfriend wants on the computer for software and media fit nicely onto 80 gigabyte hard drive.

If your student or an average user needs a good, inexpensive upgrade from a Pentium 4 (single core) system, this will work awesome for most people. It's light, just over 4 pounds, and will take a beating if you travel with it, too! We like it overall quite well.

Pros: This is a great machine for the price I paid for it. It's lasted five years now with only minor wear and tear. The machine came set up correctly and has worked ever since. I'm an average business user and for that purpose, it has served me well.

Cons: I hate the way these all come loaded with extra manufacturer clutter. I have no idea what tech support is like. I've never had to call them. This is not a race car.

Pros: The screen resolution isn't amazing but at 1440x900 its pretty good, the keyboard, and i love the scroll thing on the trackpad

Cons: The chargers always break, one of them I had the charger on the back broke had to get a new one, had about 3 chargers break and on both i've had when you close the screen the screen doesn't turn off

Summary: It's ok as a business laptop
