"when the computer worked it did it's job."
Pros: at the time i bought it great for price.
Cons: well hp has to get better support system. this does not have sound control or any good user friendly features. best plain computer you can get
Summary: My problem was not the way it ran xp. I used this computer for hw in highschool and I used it for taking notes in my java class and ran made and compiled a lot of java and c, c++ codes on it and it ran fine as long as it has over 512mbs of ram. hd space small. now non of this was serious problems. my problem was that 7 times this computer had to be sent in for hardware repair. first 4 times same problem and last 3 times slight different problems. they have idiots for repair people. I have built many computers before and every single time they screwed up. and sometimes it came back configured with a different processor or bigger harddrive. but never worked. i think mobo was replaced 5 times. in the after my 2nd priority repair the people thier said that i should have asked for a replacement laptop when it was under it's 1 year warrantee no one told me that. and they said after the 6th repair we can only repair it again. they did it and sent it back and it every 5 minutes comes up with a blue screen asking to check hardware and bios. then does a big memory dump and restarts. finally the 7th time 3rd time out of warrantee still free repairs because their policy is it is under warantee after 90 of last repair. The second time they sent me to consumer relations first time denied my replacement because not under warantee. Now this time i have been wining to a very nice lady for about an hour and half that i am going off to college with no comp because of this and i am majoring in compsci. So she says to escalte it to customer relations and it will take 24 hours. well i guess the nice winning i did finally made someone work there. 20 minutes later someone calls back and says they will replace it with a new nc6400 with dvd writer, t7200 processor, 1 gig ram, 80 gig hd 7,200 , and ati x1300 graphics. and a lot more i am am not sure about yet because i have not gotten it in the mail. i hope other people do not have this many failure with there hp's as i did and i hope the other one works for a long time. but finally some did me a favor. and made up for the 2 years of a lemon i had. i paid 800 for this comp back then. and it was a lemon out of the box. So someone obviously did something because the replacement is a 2,000 dollor comp. so i am not complaining. i am not sure how many other people have had defective comps that hp could not repair numerous times. but be aware that there was one case even if i am the >1% i am just saying it happend even though it may not happen to any one else.
