Summary: I'm stoked. Not being an IT expert, I spent a lot of time researching what was available in Australia before settling on the V4000 (V4002AP - but I think that just means "oz version)
My only concern has been "lock ups" that can't be fixed with CNTRL+ALT+DLT. It appears HP know it is a fault with the optical drive, and hopefully they will do a recall and fix for all those affected. Mine will be fixed under warranty within a couple of days no worries. I'd only put that down as a minor set back for what is a great machine fairly new to the market.
I take it in the field in a padded back pack, and it is robust. The DELL versions work supplies that I would have to use if I didn't have my own would never take the same punishment.
Great unit. DVD's are a dream. Speakers may be tinny - but what do you expect? The sound card more than makes up if you plug in headphones. Games are great too. -

Summary: Got the v4125cl from Costco. I think this is a great notebook. My husband is jealous even though he was the one who bought it for me. We upload video from the camcorder and burn it to dvd with no problem. It performs with no hangups. The wifi is also excellent. I have had it for 4 months and it works beautifully.

Pros: good quick machine with enough software to get you going...
Cons: battery life could be better
Summary: This machine is great for the home user and can hold it's own in the pro arena... i've tried it with high end pro audio applications and it doesn't even blink... make sure your machine has enough ram, and you're off and running.. the wireless card is pretty good... i can pick up so many different signals everywhere i go... amazing. lastly, you get all of the software you need unless specialiazed software is warranted. cd burning, dvd burning, windows works, money 2005, iTunes and more.... it's agreat value!!

Summary: I really like my new machine from Compaq/HP. After shopping around and looking at all of the different products, I wanted something unique.
Whenever I'm in Starbucks or at the Coffee Bean, people come over to ask me questions about my new Compaq V4000. The first thing they like is how bright my screen is and the platinum finish with grayish looking keys. People say it looks great!
Well, looks aren't everything, but if you've got them... it's nice to show them off.
My new Compaq V4000 works like a dream. There isn't anything that my new machine cannot do based on expectations of this system. All I can say is that "doing my home work paid off."

"Always the power jack" on
Pros: Small, looks good
Cons: The power jack always break eventually, I've had 2 and it happened to both!
Summary: Its okay, but the next time I bought a laptop I looked at a deconstruction manual, and made sure it had a seperate power jack that could be replaced.
