"good visuals and animation, to much hardwre failures." on by ivanciocnetito
Pros: Good screen and visuals, soft keyboard. Very thin and portable.
Cons: Battery charge fails, didn't charges at all, touchpad fails, audio output scratches to much, all this happens before guaranty period, repairs took months.
Summary: If it is hp, no thanks. Same bad experience with an hp camera.
Maybe it was bad luck. -

"Failures at every turn. Piece of junk." on by coherentphoton
Pros: It will make buying another laptop feel all that more gratifying.
Cons: HP support failed here. Display dies before days before end of warranty; diagnostics will take more than remaining days of warranty. HP would not confirm extension of warranty until problem resolved. Not too surprised, but I am out hundreds of $.
Summary: HP support costs them another customer - me. Where I was a big fan, I have learned that perception of HP quality and reality are two very different things.

"An okay laptop" on by cpu24
Pros: Speed, display, design, and brand
Cons: Battery life, VISTA,
Summary: OK, it's a great laptop. I love that its ultra-portable, has great features, and the brand HP. I also like the Intel Centrino processor. The battery life it OK, I also don't like the location of the the wireless switch in the front where it can be turned off.

"Use at your own risk" on by van1616
Pros: The laptop is small and portable and the price was nice
Cons: HP's customer service is terrible and they replaced a failed part with another faulty part
Summary: I bought my laptop on 28 February 2008. By December 2008, the hard drive failed. I got my computer back in January 2009 with a replaced hard drive. The drive lasted for just over three months. I contacted HP to let them know it failed again and I was told that the warranty was up. I asked the representative if the hard drive normally fails after 3 months and was told that the drive must be faulty and it was not typical. He then proceeded to tell me that it would not be covered and that I would have to pay for parts and labor. A 650 dollar laptop from a seemingly reputable company only lasted 13 months while being used as a causal home computer; I am not a gamer and only 50% of the hard drive was used both times. Very disappointing.
I will not ever purchase another HP/Compaq product.
