"Great overall laptop for a student or professional" on by pheverish

Pros: Runs cool, bluetooth is very convenient. Solidly built and sturdy. Biometrics reader is convenient as well. Dual core 2.2 ghz processor is plenty of processing power.9 cell battery raises up the laptop helps with airflow and heat.

Cons: Had to disable pinch so that when using the touchpad things don't go haywire on the screen. The extended battery bacame loose to the point that the machine would shut off if the battery was moved while it was plugged in.Covered under warranty though.

Summary: It is by far the nicest notebook computer I have ever owned. It is stylish as well as feature rich. But not too feature rich to where it feels cheap. With a bluetooth mouse this laptop is complete.

"Love this little Friend" on by yodogwazup33

Pros: Fast, portable, bright, attractive, lots of mimi ports,

Cons: weight, non backlit keyboard, webcam, battery sticks out

Summary: great little computer not for business, travell, or portability. A home laptop that moves every once in a while

"A happy Medium" on by xxvkeyxx

Pros: Decent battery life, sturdy, nice display, 2 USB ports plus 1 USB/SATA port, remote for watching movies, HDMI

Cons: No backlit keyboard, battery is asymmetrical so sits awkward if not on a flat surface

Summary: I was very happy with the product that I got for the price I got, I knew when shopping that I wasn't going to be able to find everything I wanted on one computer for the price I wanted at that time. I have had this computer since July and still love it, I do wish it had backlit keys though. The battery life is awesome. The keys register great. I have tried a Dell, and I typed too fast for it to register all the keys or there was a delay (I do not type that fast either!) Overall, I am happy with what I got for my buck.

"love this little machine." on by pscfav91

Pros: this laptop is not too heavy and the fact that i can upload pictures minus extra cords is great. the battery creates a little boost for the keyboard when it's on a flat surface which helps air flow. i really like the screen and graphics.

Cons: the inconvenient size of the touchpad prompted me to buy a wireless mouse asap. the keys themselves are also slightly aggrivating due to the fact that they are flat and not backlit so it can make typing a little hard to get used to.

Summary: i like this laptop simply because the size suits my lifestyle as a student, not to mention the memory and overall processing speed cut down on loading time. i've noticed with my laptop that the battery life is not as advertised but it still lasts alot longer than any other laptop i've used. i recommend this laptop to students especially because of the price and the power you get for it.

"Nice looking well built but just way too heavy at 5lbs." on by jvas2

Pros: Great screen, solid build quality, HDMI, plays Blue ray movies from rom, dv3 screen is HD 720p supportive to watch HD movies. Option to get backlit keyboard is a BIG PLUS so you can see what you're typing at nights.

Cons: Regardless what this reviewer says, the 5lbs is NOT light as the reviewer states. Ever try walking around with 5 pouds the whole day, its like holding a 5 lbs dumbell in your hands, it gets sore. 4lbs and under is true ultraportable.

Summary: For very occasional portable use this laptop and mostly desk work this laptop is great. But if you plan on using it more than 2-3 times per week carrying it around forget it...you will quickly feel the weight getting heavier as the day goes buy because you are tired.

Ultra portables need to be under 4lbs the DV3 is a full pound more at 5lbs...way off. As another great option, I suggest the Acer Timeline 3810T with the Intel Core 2 Duo ULV SU9400 1.4GHz, it can last more than 8.5 hours on a single charge, can play movies in full HD 720p and with an HDMI connect hook it up to your LCD TV. Plus the Acer Timeline body is made out of magnezium for lightness and durability, and it weighs only 3.5 lbs....yes only 3.5. That is a big difference when holding a laptop in you palm all day. 3.5lbs is comfortable and 5lbs would be painful to do if bring your laptop with you every where you go.
