"Great Specs, Bad Product Design" on by sidtoaf

    Pros: Great Specifications,
4gb Ram, 250gb+, great memory card, HDMI port, VGA port, laptop extension, eSATA port, 3 USBs, removable optical drive (lightscribe), built-in webcam

Cons: Fingerprint and body oil magnet,
    Cheap Plastic body,
    flimsy keyboard,
    gets HOT,
heat vents fall directly on your lap (when the laptop is on your lap) so is almost impossible to put on lap.

Summary: For a person who does not have a problem with the design, I'm sure the laptop is very good.

But for me, I am very unsatisfied with my purchase because the laptop has turned out to be nothing but a problem for me. I hate cleaning the fingerprints and oils that gather on the laptop. I hate the feel of the keyboard, the whole thing is made out of very cheap plastic. Believe me you will not want to touch your laptop after 2-3 hours of use as it would have picked up a lot of dirt and fingerprints.

Then on the body there is a very cheap texture and print that looks horrible and tasteless.

The laptop also gets very hot. Like atleast 100 degrees (maybe even more) on the bottom, the mousepad also gets hot (which is a pain since your fingertips start to hurt). It is almost impossible to put the laptop on the lap as the heat vents is directly on the bottom of the laptop. It gets very hot and unbearable to put the laptop on ones lap.

Basically, I am very disappointed with the laptop. I am a student and use the laptop for basic computing needs like MS Office, IM, email, websurfing and youtube. I don't raelly need the 4gb ram, so the Laptop is useless for me and is just a hassle to use.

    Bottom Line:

I will not recommend the product unless you don't mind the bad design of the laptop.

"Will Never Buy HP Again" on by musicfanatic0815

Pros: small and compact, touchscreen volume controls

Cons: OVERHEATS, terrible battery life with initial battery, fingerprint magnet

Summary: I bought this laptop in July of 2009 when I left for college and it has been nothing but a headache. First battery died on me a little after a year, after warranty of course. Next the AC adapter went, so I had to replace both. My new AC adapter just fried as well. Laptop was $800 when I bought it and I have invested over $1000 at this point in less than 3 years. I will never buy an HP again.

"I would never buy another one." on by kpremo143

Pros: Looks nice, touch pad, battery life, intel processor, energy star effiecient.

Cons: 12-cell battery was fried at the 1 yr warrenty mark, then the computer got the famous pavillion "black screen of death" just 4 months out of warrenty. HP won't even TALK to you without a credit card number on an out of warranty device. Find out the hard d

Summary: if you want something that LASTS stay away from this laptop.

"Had it for 2 years now and its still running great!" on

Pros: Comes with remote, long battery, haven't had many problems.

Cons: One of the usb ports stopped working half a year after I got it but I use a hub anyway so that doesn't affect me.

Summary: I make sure to reformat and reinstall at least twice a year and if you get rid of the annoying hp programs that come with it like advisor it runs great. Start-up time is fast too as long as you shutdown at least once a day. I've had it for 2 years now and I'm not looking at getting a new one before college. I am going to reformat the hard drive again though. Also, I need to buy a new optical drive but I definitely got use out of mine as often as I used it.

    "Terrible Laptop" on by W-555

    Pros: None, really

Cons: Freezes, Crashes, Slow Re-Boot, Overheats, Cheap Looking, Challenging for WiFi or EVDO Card Use

Summary: I have had a dozen laptops over the past 15 years but this has to be the worst. I got this computer two years ago when I was laid off and contemplating starting my own consulting business and wanted a mid-grade laptop to use for client projects. I now have gotten a regular job again with a good corporate laptop from my employer and had planned to use this for only personal stuff but even then found it was unsuitable. Computer was marginally OK for maybe the first year while it was in warrant but a litany of problems. First of all the battery is a nightmare--it is three times normal size and sticks out like a huge growth on the bottom so it is hard enough to use it on a table / desk top and impossible as a true laptop. Beyond that the battery kept falling out and then took several minutest to get it latched back in place. It overheats and frequently crashes (blue screen or no-warning reboot for bizarre reasons like plugging in a USB cable or opening the disk drive . It is virtually impossible to use this machine with tethering/EVDO software as disconnects are frequent and it takes several steps to connect to WiFi. The "HP Advisor" operating program is a nuisance, constantly asks for permissions that have already been set before, and generally interferes with the operation of other programs. As of this week both the mother board and hard drive have failed simultaneously, and I am planning to cut my losses and walk away from this piece of trash and get a replacement, which you can guarantee will not be an HP.
