"Worst Customer Service Ever" on by schezz

    Pros: Good Design

Cons: Worst when it reaches the 1 year point and after (worst customer service)

Summary: Having gone through several notebook computers, HP has by-far the worst customer service ever. Before 1 year is up, the internal wireless component fails to work. I send it for repair and it takes them 2 months to fix it and thus my warranty expires. What I realize when I get my computer back is the fact that they did not re-assemble the computer properly and hence, my monitor does not work. I call HP and they tell me that the warranty expired and they can't do anything about it. I explain my situation that they had my computer for 2 months during my warranty and also that my computer is mal-functioning because of their error. The people at the other end of the customer service tell me that they have elevated it to the higher manager in-charge and the manager will call me. I don't get a call back so I call HP again being patient and explaining the whole situation again. They tell me their sorry and once again it will be taken care of and someone will call me later. Once again, I get no call. So I call them again. Once again, I explain my situation all over again. And without fail, they fail to call me again and get my computer fixed. I call again and they tell me that they once again will call me. (Are you keeping count, this is the 4th time I am calling them.) I am right now looking at getting another computer now having wasted a lot of time and money on this issue. By far this is the worst experience ever. If you are using a HP, I wish you the best that it does not breakdown. If you do, you're facing the worst customer service ever.

"Very stylish entertainment notebook - good choice for me! :)" on by Maizitikas

Pros: Overall style, nice QuickPlay feat., touch-pad on/off button, very nice display, good speakers (!).

Cons: Average battery life, can run a little hot. Not very mobile notebook.

Summary: It's not a laptop I would buy for work purposes only. It's clearly made for entertainment and I think it lacks serious business computer qualities (it's not grey and boring and optimized for work only ;)). That said, it comes with AMD Turion 64 x2, which means that it has power enough to satisfy even the most power-hungry applications. I have never experienced any slowdown and I usually work with my Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, browser, Media Player and what not open at the same time. Accompanied with my Wacom tablet, it has become invaluable to me when I'm working outside my home or when I want some portability. I should say that it isn't a very mobile laptop. Battery life with standard 6 cell battery isn't very long when working full power (that is with full brightness, wireless on and media player or something similar running). But I find that I can always turn down the brightness (especially at nights), switch off my wireless connection and read something instead of watching DVD/doing some hardcore working when I'm running on batteries only. But when there's a power outlet somewhere to be found, I cannot resist turning on the QuickPlay feature and watching some of my favourite DVDs. It has a great display, made for high definition movies and Altec Lansing speakers just make the movie watching with this laptop a very satisfying experience. When it comes to gaming, there isn't much to be said. GeForce Go 7200 just isn't a gaming card. But it can run a game or two, when some graphic features are turned low or off. One more thing to add - it is surprisingly silent. The cooler just kicks in occasionally and this quite low hum it makes doesn't bother me at all, even at nighttime.

"Piece Of Junk" on by CHrappstead

Pros: Nice graphics, Media Center, Fast Dvd-R Burner

Cons: Motherboard, Harddrive, Screen Flickers, Slow startup

Summary: Personally, after owning an HP Product, I will NEVER go back to HP again, I am a student, so I need this laptop for school. Half the time it was away on service.

I am extremely dispointed in this product, as I had only had the laptop for 2 months when the harddrive decided to go out. Was sent away for repair, 2 months later the mother board goes out.

Have to get data backed up again, and send it away once again.

I do not like HP for service nor there products. I am sorry I even bought one!

"HP IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK, BUT AMD?" on by buyrite

Pros: BEAUTIFUL SCREEN, LAPTOP BODY LOOKS AWESOME!

Cons: PUTS OFF A LOT OF HEAT AND BATTERY LIFE IS LESS THAN AVERAGE

Summary: I've only had this laptop for about a week. I ordered it direct from HP. I ordered mine with the AMD Turion2 TL-50 processor, a gig of ram, the Nvidia graphics card, and the optional web-cam. First of all, I'll start by saying that this laptop looks absolutely beautiful. Dare I say, it looks, sexy! The inlaid pattern and the blue quickplay lights look really cool!
HP-Keep up the good work on design!!!! A+ Perfect10! However, on the performance side of it, I'm not at all impressed with the AMD Turion processor. I've never been a big fan of AMD processors, but I thought that surely they must have come a long way in the quality of their processors. I don't know, maybe their older processors were better, but this new AMD Turionx2 gets extremely hot! Just run your hand underneath this laptop and you can sure feel all of the heat that is coming off of it. That make me worry about long-term reliability. The scroll feature on the mouse pad is really nice and convenient.
This laptop also allows you to store the remote control in the express card slot.
Handy so as not to lose the remote. Some people have had a hard time trying to pry the remote out of the slot, but that's because you have to push in on it to release the catch, easy if you know what you're doing.
I can't tell you how absolutely stunning the display looks on this laptop. It's capable of high-definition display. Way to go HP!
As a matter of fact, I've never been a real big fan of HP, but I've got to hand it to them on the new design of this laptop. I absolutely love the touch-sensitive volume controls. They're really cool! The Altec Lansing speakers sound great! The keyboard keys do however feel like they lack a more proper groove for you fingers to fit into them more comfortably. Not, too bad, but I like the keys on Toshiba laptops more. Also, the last drawback is the terrible battery life that you get with this laptop. I ordered it with the standard 6-cell battery and even after I calibrated it like HP recommends I have only been able to make it last for 1 hour and 40 minutes. And that's just been using it to browse the web and NOT using the wi-fi. If I were to do it all over again, I would definately go with an Intel Duo Core processor. I hear that they run cooler and that they have better battery life. Overall this is a nice laptop loaded with great features, but I would highly recommend that you order it with the 12-cell battery instead of the 6-cell and that you also order it with an Intel processor. But, again, my hat's off to HP! And the only reason that I'm giving this laptop a 6 instead of a 10 is strictly because of the AMD processor.

    Updated
I forgot to mention, but the fan also turns on and off about every minute to minute and a half. Also, the computer freezes up after it gets hot. Sometimes it takes about an hour, sometimes it takes about 2 hours. I think that it's because of the AMD processor. And one last thing about the right and left click buttons, one of them is higher than the other. They should be the same height. The ones that I looked at in the store weren't like this.
    Updated
One last added note to clarify: again, I am commenting on the DV6000Z and not the DV6000T. The "Z"means that it has an AMD processor. I believe that the DV6000T which has the Intel line of processors is a far better machine. It's a little more costly, but well worth the difference!

"Nice laptop, but hot and somewhat heavy" on by CP_You

Pros: Nice Glossy 15 inch screen, a/b/g wireless, fast AMD CPU

Cons: heat, heat and more heat, although not as hot as previous laptop

Summary: Great laptop for the price, only cost me $1350 for the following:
    1gb ddr2-667 sdram
    80 GB SATA hard drive
    1.6 Ghz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52
    nvidia geforce go 7200 256mb pci-e
    a/b/g wireless lan + bluetooth
    nvidia network card
    1 firewire port
    3 USB 2.0 ports
    6 cell battery
Norton Internet Security 2006 15 months
    Microsoft Works + Money

Nice laptop, but it gets quite hot. Then again, not as hot as my Dell Inspiron 1150. Overall, this laptop gets an 80%.
