"Very Bad product" on by mediaman3
Pros: none none none none
Cons: Screen went black and lap - top has never come back on. Can't get any one from Hp to diligently help.
Summary: This product should be recalled at the least and at best they should give every one who bought one there money back and a new notebook. I was big fan of everything Hp we use and we buy their commercial large format printers but after this I have decided to give my hard earned dollars to a company that's not producing crap!

"POS - Never Buying HP again" on by galactico01
Pros: Large oversize screen, HDMI port, decent HDD space, decent processor speed and overall value for the price
Cons: NUMEROUS PROBLEMS!
#1 Fan overheats, so much so that I get blue screen errors, shut downs due to overheat, etc...
I press the suspend button and close the lid and if I don't wait for long enough, the computer will not go to sleep. Further, I press the susSummary: I am writing this review from my new ACER laptop because my HP has been consistantly giving me numerous problems and additional problems continue to creep up on me. I agree with all other reviews written on this site.
- Had to send computer in once to replace power supply that went bad and the spacers between the frame and the lcd were coming out. I was without computer for close to 2 weeks and had to spend multiple times on phone with tech support to get them to agree to take computer in for rapairs (probably because the warranty was almost up and they wanted it to run out before I sent it in)....
- HDMI port is an awesome feature but worked intermittantly. Sometimes the display would work, but the sound would be going through laptop speakers and not computer. Other times I connected to computer and it worked fine and then one disconnect and reconnect and HDMI no longer worked!!!
- Sometimes when opening lid of computer mouse works, but keys don't. Have to open and close screen multiple times before it will let me type. Sometimes have to restart computer...
- Horrible support- Phone tree to India where support personnel can barely understand what you are saying and you often have trouble understanding them and I speak 2 languages and have worked in inter -
"Good for the first year" on by PotentGoddess
Pros: I like the touch pad for volume and play controls and also the lightscribe was a nice feature.
Cons: If you are into any type of gaming..this is not the laptop for you at all! Has a 3.1 windows experience rating due to gaming graphics card. The HDMI came in handy when watched a college game online..but it kept freezing!
Summary: The computer started cutting off at random times a little over a year after I bought it. Found out the motherboard, fan, and hard drive were all shot. Good thing I had extended warranty, because the total repairs were over $700...and of course..the warranty company would rather just give me a refurbished computer or check. Going with a Toshiba this time...would NOT recommend this HP to anyone...overall it's just too slow! It has plenty of RAM..but with the processor running short and the gaming card...it's really not an entertainment pc with all of the freeze issues!!

"PIIECE OF CRAP" on by Logyn
Pros: The 15 months it actually worked.
Cons: Bad fan design, horrible product. This laptop is part of a class action law suit at the present time. Go figure.
Summary: After 15 months of ownership, my HP DV7 1240-us has conked out. The keyboard would come on, but my screen would be blank. I just got a call from the repair man who indicated that it was the Motherboard. He quoted me a price of $600 to fix it...WOW..That's almost worth the cost of the darn laptop itself. I am going to purchase a new laptop, and I will NEVER purchase anything from HP again. They have burned their bridges with me. They should be ashamed of themselves for selling such a poor quality item. FYI: I barely used my laptop, therefore, it was not a result in wear in tear..this is downright horrible and shameful.

"Bad buy. I'm out of hundreds of dollars. Never again." on by meresreyes
Pros: I had a computer
Cons: Had this computer for 1 1/2 years. Screen went out. 2 Techs told me it was my motherboard & wasn't worth fixing. Can't see the darn buttons & had to take the 4 GB out & reduce it down to 1GB so it will work again until I can afford 2 buy an
Summary: How can we stop this compnay/brand from doing this to people? I'm reading the same issues with everyone on here. Doesn't someone look at these reports for patterns??? It's not fair. This stupid computer cost my a fortune and I can't even use it. I'll never buy another HP product again.
