"Great for the price" on by thegman45
Pros: Blu-Ray, Lots of RAM and HD space, quick enough
Cons: I have no issues after 4 months use
Summary: I purchased this model earlier this year. I have the Intel Core Duo 1.66GHZ processor, I am not a gamer so I cannot comment on that, however I do a lot of video editing and this PC is very adequate. I love the 2 hard drives (160 GB each) and loads of input/outputs (4 USB2, 1 HDMI, 1 Firewire, plus headphone. Integrated webcam is nice. 17" screen is great for viewing pictures and video.
However, I really purchaed this model for the bluray drive (reader only). I must say that it was a great purchase. I plug in the HDMI cable from my laptop to my plasma TV and WOW - BluRay at its best.
I was concerned that 1.66 would be too slow but it is more than adequate for smooth video.
I bought this on a Bestbuy special of $1150 which was a good deal even if there was no BluRay.
if you need a laptop and want a bluray player then this is the way to go. -
"Its good but has its flaws" on by idbyrne
Pros: fine for school work, gaming is decent, pretty fast
Cons: screen resolution changes itself, very picky about installation
Summary: I needed a computer for boarding school, so I went to circuit city and picked out their "stock" version of the dv9000. It was pretty good for when I gamed with it last summer but the processor was not nearly as powerful as it could be which makes multitasking difficult with multiple programs, ie AIM, word, powerpoint, and itunes and usually an internet page. I also find mine doing on average 100 processes which is most likely my fault. Gets pretty hot when gaming for 1+ hour. My mom has also found HP's costumer service to be less than par. Overall its good for what i need it to do now but I will most likely replace it within a year to ear in half at the most (ive had it for a year).

"Great until GPU burns out." on by nus42
Pros: Good screen real estate, decent performance, great connectivity.
Cons: GPU is FLAWED! It works well until the GPU gets too hot, typically just out of warranty. Then, you're stuck with a busted graphics card that will NOT run 3D apps, the reason I chose the video card in the first place. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM!!
Summary: HP and nVidia need to cowboy up and get this problem resolved, especially considering consumers paid a premium to get a desktop replacement, just to have it fail less than two years of moderate use.

"Good performance; I play World of Warcraft on it" on by fourwindsoh
Pros: Very good performance. I got the 2nd highest screen available and the 2nd highest video card available, plus fairly large upgrade in the disk size.
Rarely crashes. 3 times maybe in the 9 months owned.Cons: The graphics card can get hot on my left leg sometimes, but most of the time it's not a problem.
Keyboard cheap imo, compared to the Dell's I have used in the past. I do have it on warranty though. I consider this a fairly minor issue.Summary: Great laptop.
I bought this in June 2008. I have used this computer for many hours but only at home so I didn't put it through the wringer like I have other laptops. I wanted a laptop with good quality video and graphics for gaming.
I wish I went with the top screen available for the purpose of watching movies and TV, but don't think laptops generally have crystal clear video output though, even the best ones.
The gaming display is excellent. I am very pleased. I have had no major issues with this PC.
