"It has a nice feature set"
Pros: 2gb ram, Beautiful Screen
Cons: Cover is a little delicate, camera only ok
Summary: I have had it three days now and I have kind of put it through its paces. I have already had to consult HP three times for help. Getting help from HP was typical compared to my experience with Dell and IBM, slow and not exactly on the mark. I really like the feature set for the price. My last laptop lived for 6 years, I don't think this one will. I would not recommend this large laptop for travel. I don't think the cover would hold up to that much action. This unit has a camera, but it is not very useful since it will not swivel. I have had problems with freezing, and now Windows will not shut down. In all honesty, I had the same issues with my previous Dell laptop. I have successfully loaded my iPod and Creative Vision, and that was a main reason for the new laptop. It found my wireless network without any problems, which was a relief. I have not tackled the wireless printer yet, it will not be easy. I like the number of USB ports (4), but the firewire is the small pin, I did not even realize there were two types of firewire connections. For your information, the HP warrenty for thrree years is the same price as the two year one from CC, although I am not sure if there is some advantage to the CC one. This unit is made in China, I did not realize that HP laptops were made there. I debated between this unit and a 17 inch one from Gateway for a similar price. The Gateway had a battery recall and seemed to me that Best Buy should take care of that known issue before they sold the laptop, but they did not and I did not want to deal with it. I just want my electronics to work out of the box.Updated
I have had this unit for a long weekend now and that included having to contact HP for help. Turns out that their help has been very good. I am impressed with the timing of their response and I really like the chat room help that is available. I determined that the software snags I was experiencing was because of the Windows autoupdate feature, there must have been a lot to update since the operating system was originally installed. I still think this unit would not hold up too well with a lot of jostleing but I knew that when I went with 17" monitor. It's not too bad, but it remindes me of some of the older American cars that had too much rattle in the doors.

First of all, beware of the CNET preview button, it just wiped out my first attempt at this.
After a long weekend, I had some very good experience with HP help. The chat room feature is very nice and very quick and they have even called me about an issue. I discovered that my software problems were because of Windows update. There must be quite a few updates since the OS was originally added to this computer.
I still think this unit would not stand up well to too much travel and jostleing, but I knew that when I went with 17" screen. It is not really bad, but it kind of reminds me of older american cars that had doors that rattled.
