    "Excellent product!" on by snork354

Pros: very fast, runs many programs well, little lag

Cons: runs pretty hot, battery life is alright, but not great.

Summary: This is an all around great computer, with pen capabilities definitely on par with Lenovo X61. It runs rather warmly, but it isn't really a problem. The battery life is probably a bit less than average on a notebook (about 3 hours) with the 6-cell battery.

I really like the active digitizer in this new model - it is a HUGE improvement over the tx1000's touch screen.

The design of the laptop is very sleek and the "echo" pattern is very appealing to the eye, but also subtle enough to keep the laptop professional.

The built-in buttons on the screen of the laptop do not do everything, so occasionally you need to open the computer to do things (like change sound volume - my biggest issue), but overall good.

The stylus clicks into the side of the laptop, but with only a little pressure it can be pulled out. Not really a big issue, but if you have the included tether attached to the stylus, it can get caught and pull the stylus from it's socket.

Speakers are decently loud, and always facing the user because they are built into the front-bottom of the screen.

The two headphone jacks are great too, for watching movies or listening to music with another person, like on a flight.

All around great computer, and my favorite laptop so far!

"Very nice, VAST improvement over tx1000" on by jalywol1

Pros: True active digitizer, is a real tablet pc for reasonable price.

Cons: Windows Vista is a pain in the rear end.

Summary: I had a tx1000, and the passive digitizer was terrible. It made it impossible to use to take notes or draw on the screen. I sold it to get the tx2000, and it is just a huge, huge improvement. (The display is better also.) I was able to use it the day after I got it to annotate downloaded lecture handouts while in class, which the older model was not responsive enough to do.
I did have to disable the Windows Indexing program in Vista to keep the processor from pegging at 50% with nothing running, but that is not the fault of the computer...it's a Microsoft stupidity.
The first one of these that I ordered had a bad motherboard, but HP took it back and built me a new one, and this one is fine, so I do not have complaints about their service.
There are no other active digitizer notebooks on the market for the price of this one, and I think it is a really good combination of features and price.

    "Great Find" on by Kelor5

Pros: Longer battery life than the original, cooler design (to me at least).

Cons: glossy coat can make the scroll pad a little difficult to use.

Summary: This is a brilliant piece of machinery. It is so rare that i can find something so great for work and relaxation. A tablet pc with decent configurations and a fair price. My sister is jealous.

And to glock22c, why dont you leave reviews to the people who actually own the machines and not to the ones who have had crapy past experiences, ie: you.

"Nice but noisy" on by ArynBergman

Pros: Great features, Vista 64, and looks great

Cons: hard drive makes an unusual, annoying click every few seconds and the processor power needs to be capped at 65% to keep the fan noise down.

Summary: I recently purchased the tablet and I like it but it has some issues.

The main problem is that the hard drive makes an unusual click sound every second or two. It's very annoying. I've sent the pc back to HP, but they only re-imaged the hard drive and the problem persists. The tech support has be friendly but not able to help. I was last told that the problem is known and will be fixed soon. If that happens, I'll return and re-rate the pc.

From researching it on the web I've found that it has to do with the hard drive going into a power saving mode incorrectly. WD (which is the brand of hard drive that's in the tablet) has a utility to fix it but it doesn't work with this pc. The link is:
    http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1414&p_created=1138984716&p_sid=HrVN_ZNi&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MzgsMzgmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0wJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfZm5sJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9Y2xpY2tpbmc*&p_li=&p_topview=1

The other problem is that I have to throttle the processor down to 65% power in order to keep it from sounding like a jet engine, even when idling. Its not a big deal b/c I'm only using office apps on it, but still...

Otherwise, its nearly perfect, I just can't use something that makes so much noise, particularly during meetings.

"Intuitive and Outstanding" on by Stric9

Pros: Asthetics, small, powerful, intuitive, sturdy, digital pen, sound and video quality, free offers and upgrades at time of this review

Cons: Short battery life with standard battery, Gets hot, bloatware

Summary: I purchased this laptop as opposed to the Macbook Air I also had my eye on. I still think the Macbook Air is innovative and the wave of the future, but it doesn't suit my needs; Not as much as this convertible/tablet PC does.

As a student and an aspiring entrepreneur, the need for a notebook PC that lets me scribe notes and sketch out ideas and business models is very appealing. I paid for the 2GB of ram, the upgraded wireless capability (formats), and the 2.4GHZ processor. HP included the thumb scanner, camera, mic, light scribe DvD burner, and attractive case skin for free. With the free shipping and a student discount, I paid approximatly $1200; $500 less then the stock Macbook Air I was considering.

My HP came configured 2 days before a class residency in DC, and right out of the box, I had to spend hours removing junkware aka bloatware from this laptop. I installed my Office 2003, and viola, it was up and running.

This devices feels solid and sturdy in my hand, and the battery extends beyond the CPU foot print making for a comfortable grip. It can feel a bit heavy to some, but not uncomfortably so.

I am Right handed, so when holding the tablet in my left arm and using it in portrait mode, I notice the heat coming from the far right sink vent when in Tablet mode; (Or in the upper right quadrant of the laptop in standard mode, as the keyboard and are facing you). It makes for a warm sternum and may get uncomfortable after an extended period of time. This depending on whether or not you like to rest it right against you while writing with out any breaks.

The screen and pen are supremely responsive, and Microsoft Journal is outstanding. I write chicken scratch. More like chicken hieroglyphics. But one swipe with the selection tool, and a "convert to text" and boom, it looks typed.

For a 12 inch screen, it feels very generous and natural to write on, even for my 6' 4" in frame and over sized hands. The curves of this machine are attractive and elegant, and it is extremely powerful.

Designed as an entertainment laptop, it comes with a nifty little remote control that tucks away nicely in a slot on the unit. The pen stores away neatly as well on the opposite side. This thing is a head turner and my classmates and friends are constantly impressed and stunned with this piece of technology.

All things considered, HP produced a solid and impressive machine that can simply do no wrong. If your in the market for a convertible laptop or tablet PC, I would gladly recommend it to anyone.
