A big waste of TIME and MONEY

Pros: Easy to Smash with a SLEDGEHAMMER

Cons: Bios chip cracks, hinges Break, AC socket breaks off

Review: Compaq should have recalled this item due to the EXTREME number of people who have had the problem of the bios cracking and the machine never booting up again. To replace the motherboard costs more than a new machine and the new motherboard has the same bios chip as the original. It seems that just as the machine goes out of warranty a tremendous amount of problems occur. Compaq (now HP) refuses to remedy the situation and do what is right (in my opinion). They help you make it just limp past the warranty date, then refuse to help you. It would seem to me that they should fix the problems if you repoted them before the warranty expires, but they do not. They know these machines have defective parts but refuse to make it right to the consumer. Do yourself a favor and never purchase a Compaq or HP.

GARABAGE!! Crashed all the time, now will not.....

Pros: waste of money buying a compaq

Cons: have replaced voltage regulator and montherboard

Review: still a sack of pooo.. will not
repair to even a usable bucket of bolts...

i work electronic retail and i will never offer, recomend or sell another crap-paq-pretty-sorry-e-o laptop or desk top ever again!!! every time i called their "warranty support" they told me to turn it off, hold down the power button 45 secs. and turn it back on, yeah that crap would work from time to time, just long enough to get out of warranty, now i have owned it long enough for it to continue to become a waste-- bought a new motherboard thinking it would correct the problem, nope, then now i replaced the voltage regulator, nope still will not power on, researched it more, come to find out that these series laptops always do that and i am at a loss of my 800.00 that i purchased it for a few years ago.... great work compaq (and hp now)

I bought a second one...

Pros: Ease of use and portability. This was a good laptop in its day.

Cons: I had some FUBARs with my Presario 1200 in the first year of use. The thing crashes and tech support was unable to get me rebooted over the phone. Turned out I needed a disk that was not shipped with the computer when new. I also had the screen replaced u
