With regard to size and weight, hardware, features, battery life, and performance, the HP Special Edition L2000 is nearly identical to the Compaq Presario V2000Z. Four nominal things distinguish it from its stylish sibling (and make it a "Special Edition"). First, there's the official Lance Armstrong styling: the slick black case's yellow highlights include Lance's signature scrawled on the interior and a Livestrong logo stretched across the lid. Second, the L2000 has Altec Lansing speakers, whereas the V2000 features JBL speakers; both sounded good to us. Third, the V2000Z belongs to the Compaq family; the L2000 is branded HP, though the actual significance of this eludes us. Finally, $50 of every purchase of an L2000 goes to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and its support of cancer survivorship.
For more information about the HP Special Edition L2000, read CNET's review of the extremely similar Compaq Presario V2000Z.
