"HP Lance Armstrong Special Edition is a winner."
Pros: AMD Turion;Great sounding speakers;Great bright view;sturdy feel;12 cell batt life;lightscribe dvd;quiet fan
Cons: no Independent dvd player -if that's important;CFlash reader not built in.
Summary: I needed to replace an older laptop. Wanted firewire-digital videos,USB-WiFi-widescreen obvious reasons,Bluetooth-wife's phone,$1K price range,2GB memory potential, built in speakers that sound good. Fan kicks in for 4-6 seconds, then winds down. 12 cell battery life is good. Setup two logins-obvious reasons-not sure if memory gets reallocated in that scenario. Getting accustomed to switching users to setup programs. Had one issue with personal firewall glitch. Linksys router at home liked firewall. Fled Hurricane Dennis with Router; didn't like personal firewall. Linksys Tech supt was great-problem resolved. Would buy again with min 1GB memory just to see how she runs.Updated

-12 Cell battery life is great;extra size props up pc.
-six sessions in Firefox is really easy!
-Fan kicks in and runs for 5-7 seconds.
-Great brightview screen 14" wide view.
-vivid colors. Certain angles give washout if tilted too far.
-Sturdy construction.
-3 min CD-r burner, 5 min CD-rw burner-iTunes
