"Dont buy!! Should be a recall on this defective model!!" on by russ_w_734
Pros: Cool touch screen when it first came out.
Cons: The motherboard/video card will eventually overheat and render the machine unusable.
Summary: A company as big as HP should acknowledge the design flaw, issue a recall, and reimburse their customers in some manner. Instead they route your call to India, deny any defect, will tell you that you are out of warranty and to buy a new machine. This is not the only machine I have seen that HP has done this with. Horrible customer relations and support!! HP is a total scam, I will never buy another.

"It was good. Then it broke. 1000 dollars for 2 years" on by whojoedaddy
Pros: Great while it works. Love the dual screen mode. Fairly powerful graphics for the price. Pen isn't the industry standard, but I still like it.
Cons: Overheats from the first day. I had giant red streaks across my bare legs from having this laptop on it for more than 2 minutes.
Broke completely after 2 years. A simple search on the internet revealed this is extremely common.
Horrible support, called HP -
"Winter heater device" on by feathernetwork
Pros: Great features for the price tag
Cons: Heats up dramatically. HP support rerouted and hard to get hold of. CPU died after 2 years of use which is something never happened to any of the many computers I owned so far. The ventilation is probably insufficient to hold the heat and killed the CPU.
Summary: Design flaw that needs to be fixed.

"Horrible Design" on by lemenef

Cons: Gets really hot. I put a thermometer next to it and it got as hot as 125 degrees
Summary: Do not buy!

"HP not honoring their warranty" on by azileretsis
Pros: It worked well for two months.
Cons: It stopped working after two months.
Summary: I'm having problems with HP honoring their warranty. When I spoke with my fourth case manager after spending combined two hours on the phone w/ Tech Support, I was told that they did not have another CPU to replace the broken one. When I sought an explanation, they (Edgar in HP Canada Tech Support) sent me back to Tech Support. This was my second Touchsmart and my last Tablet PC from HP.
