Lenovo ThinkPad X100e

Pros: Light, portable, solid, excellent keyboard, good Lenovo software tools, backup software, 'airbag protection' for your harddrive in case you drop the thing, decent Web cam, near respectable audio, good touchpad and track point, fast processor(s)

Cons: I get just about 3.5 hours on a fully-charged battery; does run a bit warm, but not excessive.

Summary: Based on the other lukewarm to negative reviews here, did I just get lucky? More likely the reason for my satisfaction is the DUAL CORE: AMD Turion Neo X2 Dual-Core L625 (1.6GHz, 800MHz, 1MB L2). I also opted for the 350 GB hard drive (more than I need), and 4 GB SDRAM (probably more than I need). Spent just over $600, which is pricey for me -- but exactly what I was looking for in a portable that in size (11.6") & weight is perhaps closer to a netbook than laptop. Please see Lenovo site or, better, Amazon site for much more comprehensive -- but equally positive -- reviews of this most excellent little machine.
