"Good but with room for improvement."3.5 starson by CPTempleton
Pros: Weight, IPS screen, trackpoint (love it or hate it), keyboard, battery life, performance, good value
Cons: Touchpad standard (not an option as on prior x series), can't disable screen refresh rate change when changing power sources, volume buttons occasionally refuse to work for a few seconds
Summary: I am pleased with the X220 overall but there is certainly room for improvement. The fact that the computer automatically changes the refresh rate to 50Hz when unplugged is a real annoyance and there is no way to disable this "feature." I've also had problems with the volume & mute buttons simply not working on occasion. Aside from these problems, it is a great machine. Not real happy with the inclusion of a touchpad with no opt out but most people likely prefer it and it can simply be turned off. Very good performance with just the entry level i5. Excellent keyboard (as one would expect on a thinkpad). The IPS screen is also impressive. Good battery life (about 8 hrs the way I use it: internet, spreadsheets / word processing, Sketchup, some video).
