"Does the Job" on by DrLagos

Pros: Light, compact, keyboard is handy, pen input great

Cons: Not very powerful with Vista; awkward to hold

Summary: Overall the Q1 Ultra does what it should. It is great for surfing the Web, instant messaging, and basic computing. Previewing pictures is also handy with the large screen. This is NOT a laptop replacement, but sure beats lugging one around when all you need is the web, email and IM. I think the Vista Home Premium edition is a bit too much for the processor as it sometimes seems unresponsive, but not so bad as to be unusable. I mainly use the pen input because the keyboard takes a bit to get used to. It was purchased to avoid having to carry a laptop around to upgrade firmware on stand alone devices via USB, which this does flawlessly. I also find it handy to surf and email in bed without the bulk and heat of a laptop.

"More powerful than you think." on by grd94533

Pros: Plays movie files perfectly. Fast internet. Excellent screen and vivid colors. Great price. Plays lot of games.

Cons: Only 800 mhz processor. Audio not very loud.

Summary: First of all you need to downgrade this device to XP Tablet edition. Second, you need to upgrade your ram to 2GB. After that, you will have a much faster running system. I play movie files on this with no problems since I switched to XP. It's great for playing SNES and N64 emulators, and it will play most PC games made before 2000. I bought this brand new on amazon.com for $519 and it's worth every penny. I highly recommend getting one.

"very usable UMPC" on by mdjkim

    Pros: thin, touch screen

Cons: too slow for power users

Summary: My Q1U is a very usable UMPC. Unlike other previous models, this one has integrated features that make it very functional. The tiny keyboard is usable after you get used to it (as long as you don't have huge hands). I have a Treo, so I'm used to small keys. The processor is slow, so expect mediocre performance. XP runs fine for me. Vista was just too slow. Great quality screen and battery life is quite impressive.
