totally satisfied customer
Pros: big, bright screen; built-in Wi-Fi; white body/keyboard for better low light typing; Intel Core Duo processor; Vista capable
Cons: I haven't had any negative experiences with this yet.
It transports well, handles all the hardcore processing I ask it to do (including some high-end vector graphics software), and has crashed fewer times than my iPod nano, which I've owned for less time. The screen is big and bright, great for watching movies or working on a design project. The sleek, white design is both attractive and functional - I can see the keyboard in low light, which makes it easier to type in the dark.
Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with this laptop so far. I bought this to upgrade from an older VAIO laptop that I dropped once and which never functioned quite right after that. As long as I'm more careful with this one, I'm confident it will last me a good long while.

Great Value and Features, Compares to MacBook
Pros: Built-in webcam, pretty speedy, somewhat rugged, durable, sleek design, both classic and newer card ports
Cons: Color shows dirt easily, No flash card ports except for Sony's Memory Stick (blech)
Price wasn't bad but I did buy it at the end-of -Windows XP floor model sale at Best Buy for $999 plus a $400 free gift card.
Battery life is so-so. With wi-fi on the standard battery lasts about 2 hours. Longer without it on.
Screen is great. Makes all the sad, business-only notebooks at the airport jealous. They yearn for the built-in DVD R/RW drive.
Touch pad is a little funky with the ability to use it for the mouse buttons and scroll as well. Startled me a little bit at first but after a while.
I think it compares pretty well head to head with the MacBook. I have a built-in camera. I have built-in wifi. I have an Intel Centrino Duo Core 2 processor.
Sony, great job on this notebook. You have made me a happy Vaio owner for the 3rd time. For now.
Forgot to add it.

Great Notebook
Pros: Great picture quality, pretty light in weight, beautiful machine, great keyboard
Cons: battery life, speakers
By the way, I purchased this notebook in Nov of last year and I have not had any problems with it up to this date, knock on wood. I know some people write reviews the day of purchase but I like to review mine after at least a couple months of use. Oh yeah, I also purchased mine with Windows XP, and sent in for Vista with the rebate that I got from Bestbuy. Just wondering if I should upload Vista or stick with XP for now. Those of you with experience with both browers, I would appreciate any advise on this matter.

Sleek + good peformance = Sony
Pros: Nice big screen, Built in camera, good mousepad, good speakers and looks Great!
Cons: Usb positions, memory card reader position, takes awhile to recharge.
1. It's sony, a great company.
2. The sleek look, i love looking at it.
And now that i have had it for 5 days ive grown to love the speed of the processor, the fantastic screen.
It's nice and thin and isnt that heavy.
Comes with alot of pre-installed software, some useful some that i have kept and other stuff i have deleted (eg Napster)
Included in all that software is alot of vaio related software like backup, the manual, vaio updates etc...
The CD/DVD drive is O.K it burns DVD's at 8x which is a good speed for a causual user (like myself)
problem i found with the drive is that it ripped CD's to slow, i like good quality music and use a special program (Exact audio copy) and it takes a long time to rip a average CD (Around 40 minutes) but because of the 1gig ram you can still use the laptop without losing to much speed.
USB ports are all on the same side which annoys me because i use this mainly as a desktop replacement so i have a mouse with a cord and i usually plug other things in like mp3 players so it gets a little 'busy' but nothing to loose sleep over.
The memory stick reader is an akward position at the bottom and you have to lift the laptop up to insert it. If your a casual user it dosent matter but if you are frequent user it might get a little annyoing.
the mousepad is really responsive and does the job really well, the buttons are really close to the edge and i am used to ones that wernt so close but im getting used to it and its not really a problem.
Cnet say it dosent have many multimedia buttons but i dont think many people would buy this so they can do all that stuff. The ones they have provided are useful (especially the volume buttons) the shortcut keys are there but im not used to having them so they dont really matter to me.
Battery life is 2-3 hours which im fine with (Old laptop (acer travelmate 4150) had 5 hour battery life) and you can buy more powerful batteries from Sony.
Video card is kinda useless and playing powerful games is not possible, tried to get Need For Speed Carbon going but the only problem was the video card, rest of the pc was compatiable.
Media Center isnt really for me, i only thing i have used it for is to watch DVD's and i plan to keep doing that but for browsing photos and listen to music i can use windows explorer and itunes/rhapsody.
The built in camera is suprisingly good! works well in a well-lit room and i will consider using it more because i know it is actually good!
Overall i really enjoy this laptop and i think it was worth the money.
Sony are an amazing company and will always consider them first over other companies for there great looking and working products!
