"Awful quality, Awful Service"
Pros: Great picture, design
Cons: service, parts, speed, price, battery life
Summary: My mom used to tell me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all. So in a tribute to mom, I'll say this "This computer has a fantastic screen and looks great." Unfortunately, Mom, that is about the only nice thing I can say about it, but in the interests of saving people money, I'll have to continue.
I bought this computer in July, and Within one week, the headphone jack broke, and the computer substantially slowed. Since then, I have been wrangling with Sony customer service, who continues to leave this computer in worse shape than it already is.
First, a tech person came for a home visit, and left after three frustrating hours, unable to boot up the computer. He came back, fixed one problem, but could not explain the hissing and static coming from the speakers (both internal and external). After sending it to the repair center in San Diego, I recieved the computer back two weeks later, in the same barely functional condition. After sending it back again, I have yet to recieve it back. I'm considering reporting it stolen to the San Diego police (this is, in general, a fairly good way to expedite slow warranty service).
I can't say enogh about the shoddy worksmanship of the computer and the atrotious repair service of Sony. I will never, ever, ever buy a Sony computer product again, nor would I recommend that you should. You can find much better computers for the money elsewhere.
