"piece of junk"
Pros: lightweight
Cons: sony cannot build a computer
Summary: I only have myself to blame, i brought a sony vaio desktop and it was overnighted to calif for the same repair 3 times, I guess they didnt turn it on to see if it worked. So I was hestiant about buying another sony product, I was stupid and bought this laptop. At first it was great than 2 months after i purchased it, I noticed the optic drive was acting up , called sony and they said no problem we will send a tech out with a new optic drive. a week later tech arrives(they outsource this to decision one)installs my new optic drive , laptop doesnt work at all. the design of the cable that daisey chains from the hard drive to the optic drive is poor at best. so we ordered a new one and a new hard drive to be on the safe side, told me he would be back next day they would overnite it, never heard back, called they told me it takes sony 3 days to issue a work order but they can overnite the part, the part arrives the next day and its only a hard drive , no cable and its the wrong hard drive. they reorder the right hard drive and the cable again, sony sends the wrong hard drive again no cable still, I called got a tech on the phone and he told he is ordering both cables to fit the two different hard drives that fit this laptop. called me this morning and told me the tech should get it tomorrow. I called sony just to make sure they were sending the right part, guess what, they send out the hard drive no cables, just got off the phone with them and now they promised that the cables are being sent out today and will arrive tomorrow, i seriously doubt whether these clowns can get their act together. i myself will never buy anything that has sony's name on it. If you ever saw the inside of this laptop it looks like it was so cheaply made not worth the money or your time, my dell was a god sent compared to this or better yet apple.

Sorry you had so many problems with your Vaio. We have 4 in this household (PVN RS610, RX500, FS and the SZ) and they have been excellent from day one with the exception of the floor model SZ. 2 days of owning it, it required a total recovery which wasn't a problem at all as Sony sent FREE discs to put all settings back to original. My next will be a TX model. I love Sony!

The txn17p/b has only been out for just two weeks, yet you claim to have had it for "months".
Obviously you don't even OWN this laptop, so why are you posting a negative comment on it?
