"I loved this monster!"
Pros: Superb, full hi-def display before anyone even cared about 1920 x 1200. Reasonably stable. Useful docking station/media port included. Screen went kaput after four years.
Cons: XP Home. Awful proprietary Sony software, zero battery life, HEAVY, huge, limited connection options, sometimes up and disconnects from docked speakers. MSRP is ludicrous. Screen went kaput after four years. TV tuner in dock and not computer.
Summary: It seems like forever that I picked up this beast. It served me well for many years. It's totally impractical to take anywhere, as it's heavy, too big for most backpacks, and gets rotten battery life (2 hours if you are lucky).
The included docking station and media center is interesting, and works reasonably well. I was never able to get the TV tuner working, which wasn't really the end of the world. The docking station also comes bundled with some decent-sounding, but forgettable speakers that are powered from the station itself. Dock also has RCA in/out, S-video, and an optical out, which I found interesting but never used.
The lid alone comprises nearly half the weight of the thing. It's just a monster. Desktop replacement in every way. There is really no sense in buying it because it offers next to zero functionality as a notebook.
The screen just up and fizzled out after a few years, which was disappointing. I was able to run it through an external display for awhile, but eventually wound up buying a new dell.
She served me well.
