"Completely Unsatisfied" on by Rhinomiller
Pros: I was attracted to the Portege's combination of utility, weight and reasonable price. The computer is light weight, but that is about it.
Cons: The PC runs incredibly hot and Toshiba utilities chew through memory. The laptop is prone to systemic error (I have had multiple blue screen of death attacks).
Summary: I am a basic business user, nothing fancy (MS Office is the only software loaded on my machine). The return policy of 14 days when buying from Toshiba Direct makes purchasing from an outside vendor like Best Buy a must if you are going to take a chance on a very flawed machine or Toshiba products generally.

"Small, light, fast, great features; Hot noisy sometimes" on by Neo21803
Pros: I have two laptops. A heavier one for general use, and this one for portability. For its purpose, it's fantastic. It's so small, thin, and light. I get compliments everyday. The features it has are great too. It is very fast for its size.
Cons: The computer can get hot if you place it on your lap or stomach (where it's not supposed to be placed) and when it gets hot, the fan gets very loud. As long as you always place it on a hard flat surface, you shouldn't have a problem w/ heat or noise.
Summary: I don't know why there are so many bad customer reviews on this product. I see several are from the same day, so I suspect there is some kind of grudge against either Toshiba or Cnet. This frustrates me because this is a very fine laptop, and if you go to any site that sells this laptop like Best Buy, you will see above 90% ratings on most of them.

"3 mos after purchase, LCD died; Toshiba refused to fix" on by kddavies
Pros: worked adequately until LCD died
Cons: LCD died suddenly 3 months after purchase but Toshiba refused to cover under warranty, so useless now Customer relations also useless: each supervisor read from same script in montone "I'm sorry. I know this must be frustrating, it's not covered"

"Great Laptop - especially for the price" on by Lucky-Strike
Pros: size, weight, design, speed, memory, battery life (though only as long as advertised in eco-mode and ideal conditions), screen resolution
Cons: track pad buttons with loud clicks, graphics lag with multiple processes running
Summary: I purchased the R705-ST2N03 from toshiba direct, the only difference being that the p35 from bestbuy has integrated wimax but no bluetooth, and the st2n03 has bluetooth and no integrated wimax. This is a great computer with all the specs you could want in a computer of this size and this kind of portability.

"Nice little laptop hate the noise" on by ELGXL
Pros: weight, design, keyboard, life battery (but don't last as mentioned by toshiba), very good performance (i5)
Cons: The fan noise freaks me out . I'm very sensitive to noises.
didn't like screen colors ( cold colors).
quality build OK. but every time i hold the laptop from the CD ROM side it feels like the plastic is broken
no B.TSummary: Nice and good looking laptop,I cannot forgive Toshiba for the fan noise...
