"It Is What It Is! Best In Any Class!"

by djmpvb on February 27, 2005

Pros: After two months of heavy use, it performs as advertises. Please read entire review.

Cons: None that I have experienced nor think of. Truly the best in it's class.

Summary: In the last 15 years, I have no doubt spent a small fortune buying and building desktop computers. After much research, I purchased the Toshiba - Qosmio G-15 about 2 months ago for 2999.00. So here is my review:

A true desktop replacement-so don't expect good battery life or a lightwieght (at approx 10 lbs).
Very nice and sturdy disign-unlike Dell notebooks.
Came with 512 MB Ram in one of the two slots (so there is one open slot that I used to add another 512). Comes with two harddrives, one 60GB and one 40GB. Fast and effortless wireless anywhere around my house and patio. The best 17" LCD screen I have ever seen in a notebook.Plays TV,DVD and CD with excellant quality in both OS systems. The DVD playback with and without the OS booted in full screen mode is absolutely fantastic on the 17 inch Qosmio. I have not experienced any pixelation, motion/shadow artifacts, flickering, edge blurring. You name it and the Qosmio can probably get it done with excellent results. All this is made possible by the heavily touted QosmioEngine, the screen is pretty incredible. As for glare, it is indistinguishable from that caused by the reflective coating on virtually every other laptop in this category. If you are looking for a high quality notebook with the 17inch screen that will do everything, then look no further. The Harman/Kardon Speakers are amazing and with the software drivers properly tuned, provides an incredible surround sound. It's a true pleasure to be able to do serious work while listening to my music library (using mmjb not supplied) with the TV minimized to a small sqaure that can be dragged around the screen as needed.
This is truely the only notebook on the market that offers everything for the multimedia/business needs in one small package without having to buy into a dozen add-on options like Dell tries to trick you into, making thiers cost much more.
