"Will not burn CDs from iTunes" on by hopestehling
Pros: nice keyboard
Cons: not compatable with iTunes burning
Summary: I JUST purchased this Toshiba laptop and it DOES NOT allow me to burn CDs from itunes. I just got off the phone with Toshiba support and they won't admit they have a problem with their product. I got the same spill that they don't support 3rd party software. Since iTunes has practically become industry standard software, e.g, word, excel, etc. this is a REAL problem for Toshiba.
DO NOT BUY a TOSHIBA A215-S7422. I already have a Toshiba Satellite that I've had for 4 years and have not had any problems with burning CDs from itunes. So this is an OBVIOUS defect with this unit.
If you find a firmware upgrade like Dell has, please let me know. At least they ACKNOWLEDGED they had a problem and fixed it.

"Good value for the price" on by lastostyle
Pros: Cavernous hard drive, Labelflash, 2gb ram, large keyboard, sleek design, vibrant screen quality
Cons: So so graphics and battery life, 4200rpm hard drive speed merely adequate
Summary: I've had the A215-S4757 for two weeks now with no problems. Vista Home Premium has been running great and I've had no issues so far with any of the A215's components.
While the AMD Turion X2 are slower than the Intel Core 2 Duos, They're more than adequate for handling Vista Premium/Aero and encoding duties as well as web surfing and office work.
The hard drive's "slow" 4200rpm speed was a concern at first. But, real-world use showed it as adequate with minimal lag. I credit the 2gb ram and the finer density of the large-capacity drive which seemed much faster than the old 40gb 4200rpm drive of my previous laptop. still, it won't win any speed contests. On the plus side, the 238gb formatted capacity is downright huge compared to most laptops
The graphics is the real weak point with the Mobility X1200 situated between Intel's GMA 950 and X3100. I wouldn't recommend it for 3d-intensive games like Doom 3. Still, I was able to play Dawn Of War at a satisfactory pace with good detail.
Battery life is around 2 hrs 30 min which is for me, a bit on the short side. But, I use this laptop mainly when I'm checked in at a hotel or at places where there's ample electric power like at home.
The large keyboard made typing a breeze. The screen res is limited to 1280 x 800. But, it's perfect for this size lcd screen.
Overall, the A215-S4757 is good value for the money especially for a sub-$1k laptop. -
"Definitely Worth the money" on by DevinLira
Pros: Wonderful Size, Long Battery life, Spacious Key board
Cons: FingerPrint Sensitive lid
Summary: I have been looking for a great laptop for about three months now. I finally came across this one and I could not be happier with my decision. The performance of this machine is superior. This is a great laptop for general computing needs I find it easy to do everything I need. For the gamers however I am sure you would need a Faster processor. Windows Vista is real flashy but with this sytem it pumps out great performance.

"Solid, reliable laptop good bang for the buck" on by essque
Pros: My first Toshiba laptop but I will definitely buy from them again based on my experience with this machine. I've used it for video editing with AE and Sony Vegas, graphics w/photoshop as well as the Office 2007 suite with no major issues.
Cons: - marginal battery life
- no blu-ray =(
- graphics card could be betterSummary: Many users were having more issues w/Vista home premium rather than problems with this particular machine.

"Why does it keep crashing?" on by vavgoff
Pros: The price and the screen.
Cons: Bought my Satellite in September 2007. It has VISTA OS. It has crashed so many times I have offloaded my software back onto my Dell and keep using my old Dell.
Summary: Bought my Satellite in September 2007. It has VISTA OS. It has crashed so many times I have offloaded my software back onto my Dell and keep using my old Dell. Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on? I have 3 other computers and they all have XP - so do I look to VISTA for the problem or to Toshiba for the problem. Two variables, I know, but maybe someone has an idea for me. Thanks!
