"Good value for the price"
Pros: Cavernous hard drive, Labelflash, 2gb ram, large keyboard, sleek design, vibrant screen quality
Cons: So so graphics and battery life, 4200rpm hard drive speed merely adequate
Summary: I've had the A215-S4757 for two weeks now with no problems. Vista Home Premium has been running great and I've had no issues so far with any of the A215's components.
While the AMD Turion X2 are slower than the Intel Core 2 Duos, They're more than adequate for handling Vista Premium/Aero and encoding duties as well as web surfing and office work.
The hard drive's "slow" 4200rpm speed was a concern at first. But, real-world use showed it as adequate with minimal lag. I credit the 2gb ram and the finer density of the large-capacity drive which seemed much faster than the old 40gb 4200rpm drive of my previous laptop. still, it won't win any speed contests. On the plus side, the 238gb formatted capacity is downright huge compared to most laptops
The graphics is the real weak point with the Mobility X1200 situated between Intel's GMA 950 and X3100. I wouldn't recommend it for 3d-intensive games like Doom 3. Still, I was able to play Dawn Of War at a satisfactory pace with good detail.
Battery life is around 2 hrs 30 min which is for me, a bit on the short side. But, I use this laptop mainly when I'm checked in at a hotel or at places where there's ample electric power like at home.
The large keyboard made typing a breeze. The screen res is limited to 1280 x 800. But, it's perfect for this size lcd screen.
Overall, the A215-S4757 is good value for the money especially for a sub-$1k laptop.
