"Full featured laptop with good battery life and weight" on by howardjs01
Pros: Battery power lasts for hours
Lighter weight than many others
Plenty of processor power
Large hard drive
Nice other features including finger print sign onCons: Colud be lighter weight, could have better speakers, could always have other features and a longer battery life, but certainly adequate for my needs and the amount I am willing to pay.
Summary: I travel a LOT, constantly multi task including using Skype all the time. Primary needs are sufficient processing power, light weight, and long battery life. This has them all in the price range I was targetting. Could be lighter, could have a longer battery life (one laptop I saw did have 8+ hours, half a pound lighter, but a slower processor, and 5.5 hours is enough for me. that one would probably also be fine but had external card WIFI which I did not want), but for the price range this certainly does the job. Also has a two year guarantee. I see complaints from others about features that do not bother me including the speakers, but they work for Skype and I never listen to music through laptop speakers (I use headphones or external speakers that are better than in any laptop has), and complaints about it coming with trial programs (with a 500 gig hard drive, vs. the 50 gig on my old computer, I really do not care about trial ware).

"Good Laptop POORLY BUILT!!!!!!!!!!!!" on by catoor14
Pros: Long battery life!
LightweightCons: CHEAP construction!!!!
Speakers are not good at all!! Clarity is bad.Summary: Good laptop if you are extremely careful with how you handle it. After just 5 months of ownership, the left click button is already broken. It made a loud clicking noise when it was not broken which made me question the construction. This is with normal level clicking of the left click mouse button, one side sunk in (although it still works broken). Oh and the speakers are HORRENDOUS! volume is not loud enough. If this laptop is used for schoolwork only, it is a good one to buy for the price.

"Promoted as Best Buys Customer Designed..." on by duediligence
Pros: Small. Lighted Keyboard.
Cons: Poor battery. AC plug loosened internally/replaced. Lighted keyboard failed to light after 8 months.
Summary: Great design idea, but proved to be a lemon. First Toshiba product. I felt poor quality (get what you pay for) but gave it a try. This purchase did nothing but support that feeling. Would not recommend or buy again. Currently replaced the AC plug. Battery recommended as replaced after a year, have to keep it plugged in virtually always now (still hate idea of buying new one..for just a year of use), keyboard no longer lights and the cost of replacing that...is just frustrating. Will use this model as target practice in back yard when finally over it. Oh and they should just have not bothered to put in speakers...they are HORRIBLE.

"Tough laptop...except for the battery.." on by FredSmithRocks
Pros: Very light, backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader, pretty powerful processing power. Overall has been the best laptop I have had. Some people complain about touch pad mouse keys but it has to do with how they pivot. Press in the correct spot!
Cons: Battery lasted 1 year and three days.
Summary: I have to say that of all of the laptops I have owned, this has been the best one. STILL....I can't find a laptop with a battery that is worthy. The best I had was a dell with a 9 cell. With a new battery I could go every bit of 8 hours of normal use. With this toshiba, when i first got it , 5.5+ hours was not out of the question. Then...like clockwork, 1 year and 3 days after purchase, the battery crapped out. Of course the battery warranty is 1 year. My dell did the same thing. Toshiba's warranty on line says that for this model, the battery is warrantied for 2 years!! Despite THIER website saying that, when trying to get it covered, they are telling me that the battery is only good for 1 year. I was told that it was because the laptop was purchased at best buy. Otherwise, this has been a fantastic machine. Performs very well even against the grueling Microsoft Flight Sim X. Only other problem is I just recently noticed that the laptop key for my down arrow started to peel. The backlit keyboard has ben sold. i will never have another keyboard without it. The fingerprint reader is surprisingly handy and I really like it. Overall I give this laptop a 8 out of 10 and had they haonored their warranty I would have given it a 9.5.

"Suits my purpose for the price - but noisy to boot" on by silogu
Pros: Price immediately seems great till you start the necessary add-ons. Portable and stylish.
Cons: Was in a training class and started my computer - sounded like a gas-guzzling car and everyone was staring at me! nobody has mentioned this in the reviews - is it a problem with mine?
Finding that keys do not always work and computer gets hot.Summary: Like my Toshiba - can someone tell me if my problems are normal/the expectation? Always need to make sure my words are correctly spelt as letters are sometimes dropped (no - not a spelling problem)
