    "Awesome deal" on by IanCT

Pros: 17" Glossy Tru-Brite Screen, 200+GB HDD, 3GB RAM, 10 Key, Awesome keyboard layout, Dual SDHC/MS card reader, handy volume wheel, wireless toggle switch.

Cons: Battery life, but you can get an aftermarket 7400mAh battery online for under $100. Stock battery is 4000 mAh and with battery management set to Power Save and screen brightness at medium, you can eek about 2.5 hours on a full charge.

Summary: I bought this laptop in passing at a local BestBuy store for $499 on sale. After I read some decent reviews online I went back and purchased the last one in stock.

The battery life is lacking (my only complaint), but I only need the machine for portability between locations. As I said above, you can get replacement non-OEM batteries at nearly twice the capacity but I can't attest to their quality as I have yet the need to purchase one.

I wanted the 17" for PhotoShop, and it runs CS2 very nicely coupled with my wireless optical mouse. The screen is crisp and bright.

CPU performance is surprisingly good for this processor. DVD Playback (using PowerDVD 8.0) is quite good, no skipping - and SlingPlayer runs just fine over the wireless. The bundled Toshiba DVD player software is poor quality, it skipped and the color quality was diminished. Playback on PowerDVD was exceptional.

I have no issues with this machine. I even play Unreal Tournament 2004 on it with no problems.

It even has a DVD-DL/RW burner with LabelFlash (NEC's version of LightScribe). I have yet the need to use LabelFlash.

If you get this laptop, you will get every bang for your buck.

"Low price, features i'm looking for." on by metaball

    Pros: 10key, 17" display, 3GB RAM, $550

    Cons: heavy, originally retailed $700+

Summary: I've been holding out for a laptop with a 17" screen & 10key for a low price for a while. I'm not looking to make CGI movies on this thing so the processor is fine. It is a bit heavy for a laptop but i'm not interested in lugging it around everywhere I go. My lifestyle is more, lug my gear somewhere & set up shop.

"Great Laptop with a few upgrades" on by darow1

Pros: Good reliable solid computer a tad slow as configured particularly with Microsoft Vista(aka the hog)

Cons: Short battery life and slow as molasses 5400 rpm drive.

Summary: I updated the drive to a 7200 rpm 320BG Drive uped the ram to 4Gig added a usb N wireless and the biggest upgrade Windows 7 64 bit. Now it out preforms my desktop I have had this machine for about a year and now using it for programming , sql server and video rendering. I would recommend this machine to anyone.

    "Great Computer" on by darklightfilms

Pros: This is a fast laptop... Ok, so maybe i'm comparing it to my last computer, a Sony VAIO 1GB of RAM, Single Core unit... But that was also a great computer... This computer I hoped would be maybe twice as fast, but it was/is easily 4 times faster...

Cons: None that I can think have, have owned it for 6 months or so

Summary: I play World of Warcraft alot on this laptop... And I often shrink the screen to check my e-mail, or access info sites for the game... These sites all come up very very quickly, and it seems to me World of Warcraft is a pretty demanding software... Especially with all of there rather large patches... And yet, I can fly around doing other things well the game is shrunk... Great Screen and Keyboard as well

"Not computer you want to buy!" on by asnapp

Pros: It is faster than my dirt cheap Dell.

    Cons: Is NOT functional!

Summary: Absolutely Horrible computer. Have had it for 4 months. INternet explorer is constantly "shutting down and restarting", connection to my printer never works, and it is always freezing while I am trying to work. I have had Kaspersky since day one so should not have any viruses/problems. I have already had to ship it off to Dell because the little piece inside the charger plug in that connects to the actual charger broke off inside the computer and charger chord fell out (Sorry a bit hard to explain). This computer is a piece of crap..I wish I had gotten the extended warranty!
