Pros: Fast, reliable, great screen

Cons: Battery life could be better

Summary: i spent a lot of time searching for a laptop. I had to choose between an Acer aspire 1691 and this one. the acer was 100$ less after rebate, but i chose the Toshiba. It is more durable, dependable... the laptop is solid, it boots and shuts down in virtually no time... it came loaded with lots of crappy software but it did not affect its performace at all. I got it from compusa for 1099(1299 before rebate) and it is gr8. The battery life is not terrible but is not awesome... it stays for around 2.15 hours and the best thing is that the screen is great, i set the brightness to the lowest and is still viewable.
my advice buy this laptop

Pros: --Media buttons are a big plus.
--the external volume control is fabulous.
--overall interface=awesome!

Cons: --cd drive can accidentally be ejected very easily.
--one of the USB ports has already broken
--the power button let go after a year
--I've replaced the power cord twice times now (thankfully all the repairs were covered by the extended warranty)

Summary: This laptop is on its third year now. My parents bought it for me for eighth grade graduation with a four year extended warranty to get through high school. Halfway through my freshman year, I had to send my laptop in for a replacement power button (the spring underneath gave out and I couldn't press the button down hard enough for the power to switch on), a replacement USB port (something happened to the prongs inside it and it was useless). Customer service was extremely helpful, I received my laptop back in less than three weeks, with all problems fixed. Unfortunately, the power cord let go three times: the first was the original cord that came with it (something happened to the charger box thingy itself), and the second was a problem with the cord from the wall outlet to the charger box (the wires itself came off the plug you plug into the outlet). Other than those minor problems, I really can't complain. 80GB hard drive is nothing to shake a stick at! :) It works fast, the media buttons are a major plus, the touchpad is fabulous (although I do accidentally brush my wrist over it sometimes while typing, but that happens with any laptop), and the speakers are pretty decent for a laptop (sometimes it crackles). When I have to buy a new laptop, I will definitely be buying a Toshiba. Definitely a high-quality laptop!

The power cord let go TWICE, not three times. Clearly I can't count. ;)

Pros: -Nice screen
-Decent harddrive space

Cons: -Speed was not enough
-Newer computer games were laggy.
-Poor WIFI connection
-Screen border was loose
-Could become extremely hot
-2 USB ports failed.
-Battery life was terrible.

Summary: When I first bought the product, it was a good run for the money. But after the initial year was up, the laptop begin to show extreme depreciation. I added more RAM but the computer was still not face enough.

The battery life was the lowest I've ever seen in a laptop. The max time frame was about 1hr with all programs turned off and all settings turned to low.

I would not buy from Toshiba again.
