"Great performance at a budget price." on by gilgomez

Pros: Large wide screen, brite display, full keyboard and numbers pad, plenty of ports and Media XP.

Cons: Wireless connectivity isn't stable and sound not loud enough.

Summary: This notebook offers us a good desktop replacement at a resonable price. It handles media and large graphics files very well and the processing performance is outstanding. We are very happy with the overall design and package and recommend this to anyone seeking these features plus future upgrade potential. This notebook's smart card slots will allow faster data transfer rates and tv tuner add ons in the future.

Toshiba includes the recovery discs but their documentation is not the best. They should rely less on the electronic manuals and provide a nice manual. Their site for model updates and support can also stand to be improved a bit but I really have no complaints in that department.

"Great laptop should upgrade if you can." on by MoatazMesbah

    Pros: STRONG laptop
    Good price
    Nice screen
    Full keyboard
    Screen displays smooth images
    Ok battery life
    4 USB ports

Cons: After 8 months of use I got dead pixels all over the middle of the screen
My palm rest's color wore off and touch pad buttons
    Low sound speakers
    Small touch pad

Summary: First, let me say that I've had this laptop for around 8 months now and upgraded it to Windows vista, 200GB HD, 2GB of RAM.

I am impressed by how it is built.

My little brother got a sharp item and scratched the hell out of my laptop cover (Top of laptop, behind screen) and I was angry and thought my screen got badly damaged but it was perfect and as it was.

Then I forgot to close my laptop bag so I picked it up my laptop bag and BOOM it fell down, I was scared something might of happened to it but to my amazement it still works.

The while I was charging my laptop my little brother tripped over the AC adapter and my laptop fell very hard, it still works.

And there are many more time were it almost broke but survived everytime. You can punch it with a bit of force and nothing will happen to it :), it is a very strong laptop. I had a Sony Vaio in which fell by accident and the LCD screen broke, and I also had a Dell in where it also accidentally fell and the keyboard broke. I also used my laptop for 12 hours a day for eight months and with no overheating problems. It runs very cool and silent.

The design is pretty good I love the black and silver together but the touch pad makes it look a bit bad only if it was bigger.

The sound will not be loud with the speakers, it is better if you put headphones on.

I play some mini game and 3D games on my laptop and put my hand on the palm rest for hours. So the palm rest's color and touch pad buttons wore off, this can be prevented by using a mouse.

This laptop is not a choice for people who play PC games as it lags in almost all the modern games out these, it supports an Intel GM945 graphics card. It is good if you play games that don't require too much 3D movments such as Dungeon Runners etc..

The processor speed is a let down of only 1.6GHz. But I don't find this important as it's not a gaming laptop or HD entertainment laptop.

The laptop comes with a 100GB HD, 1GB of RAM, and Windows XP.
I have upgraded to 200GB, 2GB of RAM and Windows Vista and seen a huge improvement. The 100GB HD is great to store all your favorite movies and games. I can't argue with the 1GB of RAM as it is Ok for Windows XP.

The WiFi, headphone jack, microphone jack, and memory card slot if located on the front edge of the laptop which is good and easy to reach. All ports are placed to be reached easily.

This is a great laptop if you just want to surf the internet, watch DVDs, or just for the sake of entertainment, this is this laptop for you. It is VERY well priced at around $550.00 - $600.00 as of now (October 26th of 2008) I have purchased this laptop for $800.00 eight months ago.

    Thanks,
    Moataz

"Affordable desktop replacement" on by skyheights

Pros: cheap price, non-Vista OS, nice components

Cons: slightly heavy, small R shift key, tiny track pad, lowish speaker volume

Summary: This is a great value. Sure, nothing's perfect (see cons), but all in all I was blown away by the value here. Great components (cpu, memory, screen size) at a great price. Get the extended warranty just to be sure, but after 6 months, this baby is cruising along beautifully.

The CNET Review was spot on for the most part.

    "Pretty good" on by m0ec

    Pros: Good price, nice display,

Cons: VERY BAD BATTERY LIFE, bad keyboard, bad speakers, small touch pad and touch pad buttons.

Summary: It looks pretty good, has a very nice price for it, bright big display 17 inch widescreen. Pretty light good for home use.

May sometimes be slow at multi tasking, the keyboard is very bad at typing the arrow keys are very small so is the right shift key and all the buttoms on the right, small touch pad and small touch pad buttuns, the speakers can be a bit louder, and the battery life...... it's very bad I need to charge it every 2 hours now. It can get dirty pretty easly the keyboard has lots of space so dirt can get into it, can get pretty hot.

Ok so I may have typed more cons than pros ...but its still great i love it!! its worth its price but only 1 thing i hate about it is the battery life and speakers :(
