"The WORST service ever!" on by gparade
Pros: Is good at disappearing when you send it in for systemguard protection
Cons: "Customer Care" department appears to be imaginary
Summary: I have BOTH systemguard and service express warranty agreements with Toshiba. When my laptop was damaged in a car accident, they said they would cover it. Til this date, it's still "somewhere."
I was told that I would be sent a replacement 2 weeks after they received it. Now, it's been 3 weeks and NOTHING. Contacting customer care (the people in charge of replacing the system) is IMPOSSIBLE.
I have left messages for them over 10 times with customer service and they haven't called me back at all. They are allowed 5-business days to call me back and it's been over 2 weeks.
I had to call their corporate offices, but of course, I am only able to leave a message for them to call me back and they STILL haven't called me back. And that was a week ago.
Now I have to get a certified letter and send in legal documents for something that was SUPPOSED to be a safeguard for my computer.
So, my advice to you, DO NOT GET SYSTEMGUARD. Save your money. If you do get it, it's an utter waste of time and who knows when, or if, you'll ever get your computer back. And the service express is as much as a joke.
Also, if you like speaking to Manila and Singapore, then Toshiba is for you as their customer service is from there and they are so disconnected with the entire process is ridiculous. They're certainly saving money by putting a call center there but because there is ZERO accountability, nothing will get done except the runaround.
I don't know what happened to the exceptional service I heard about but it's obviously gone! -

"Great Laptop Highly Recommend It" on by cleith1234
Pros: Wide Keyboard and Display, Biometric reader, fully loaded system.
Cons: Comes loaded with Roxio DVD Software which totally sucks and you are not able to uninstall without creating problems.
Summary: This is an excellent laptop. I have had this laptop for about 6 months, and I am very pleased with the quality. I am a computer consultant and I am very knowledgeable on both hardware and software technology. Lets just say that I get paid the Big Buck$$ to know my stuff.
First off, there are a couple of reviews on this model that you should completely ignore. This model only came on the market in Sept 2006. Anyone that says they have had the P105-S9722 before Sept 06 is not telling the truth. I purchased my Laptop on the first day they were available in the market. I always purchase the best technology available at the best price.
At that time, I had spent 2 months researching all available products on the market, because I have to use this system for actually doing my work and giving presentations to clients. I host Oracle 9.x and Microsoft Visual Studio .Net on this laptop. This is Server technology packaged in a Laptop.
As a result of all of my research, my final decision was between the Toshiba P105-S9722 and the Dell XPS M2010. These were the two models that were the best available for the price.

For the most part they are in the same category for performance and features. It is important to note that the Dell model has some slightly better features and is a slightly higher end model.
Ultimately I choose the Toshiba because the price was about $2000 less than the Dell and about $1500 less than any comparable system. Even know the Dell had some slightly better features, these features did not justify the price premium that I would be paying. I could have purchased 2 of the P105-S9722 for the price of 1 Dell XPS M2010.
I am writing this review in April of 2007 so I am not sure if there is a better model now available on the market. All I can say, is that after 6 months of using this Laptop, I have had no problems, and I am very please with the product.
Originally when I purchased this laptop, it came installed with Win XP Pro, I upgraded to Vista about 2 months ago, and I was very please to find that Toshiba had all of the Vista drivers available for this model on their support website. I performed the Vista upgrade and applied all of the drivers and everything went smoothly as I would expect an O/S upgrade to be. Note, performing an O/S upgrade is not something the average user should attempt.
This laptop has way too many features to be able to write about them here. This system is loaded with everything you could possibly need or want. Let me just word it this way, most people don't know what they are buying when they buy a computer. A computer is not what you see on the outside, but it is what’s on the inside that matters. The P105-S9722 is a Lexus of laptops at a price that is very competitive or at least it was at the time I purchased.
Toshiba was targeting a very specific group of customers with this system. They were targeting people like me, who know what they are buying and what they are getting for the money. This system was targeted for Computer Professionals and Computer Enthusiasts who are always looking to get the biggest bang for their buck. Of course you should do your own research to see what is available on the market. I am sure that there are now more comparable models to choose from. I am very please with this laptop. -
"Great for the price at almost $1000 less the the big boy gaming machines." on by Simple88
Pros: A powerful gaming machine
Cons: Feels fragile compaired to other laptops
Summary: My Likes
Overall great machine for the price. I bought mine with the latest and greatest games in mind and have yet to be disappointed. Plays games like Oblivion smoothly without degrading the graphics quality.
This laptop uses a high end graphics card which causes allot of heat. With great internal fan placement I never worry about it overheating and the fans are not noisy at all.
Tons of USB ports make it easy to plug in what you want on what ever side of the computer you feel is best.
My dislikes are the Speaker placement could be much better. No matter how you type you will be covering one of the speakers with your arm. This adds to the some what low volume levels.
Also the over all feel of the case and keyboard is a little flimsy. -
"Interesting option." on by jcbarrenechea
Pros: Excelent display and Video Card.
Cons: Battery only lasts 2.5 hours.
Summary: I bought this laptop a month ago in Best Buy. It has replaced my desktop CPU and I find its performance very good so far. Maybe because the processor and/or the 17" display, the battery lasts only 2.5 hours, so this machine is not an option if you plan to work in the airplane.
