"Great Value; Very Nice Screen; Performance is Good; Quiet and Cool"
Pros: Screen size and quality, surprisingly light, cool and quiet
Cons: Vista is a hog and transfer utility is junk; Not too much bloatware
Summary: Circuit City had this model P205-S6267 on sale for $800.00. For 17" screen, Core Duo 1.73gHz processor and 2gb of RAM, 120gb hard drive and multi dual layer DVD-RW -- couldn't find a better deal.
First experience with Vista is under whelming except in disk usage -- Don't reccomend Easy transfer utility -- long story. Vista is a Hog though, taking 40GB or 33% of the hard drive right out of the box. I removed most of the programs shipped with it and only made a small dent. I guess that is all Vista.
The large Toshiba on the cover doesn't bother me as much as it bothered the editors.
WLAN Reception is better than other devices I have in that the Toshiba recieves a much higher self reported signal strength than other laptops at the same location.
I haven't run any benchmarks yet but subjectively the response seems fast.
It is surprsingly light, cool and quiet, actually had on my lap while watching TV without heat or noise rising to nuisance levels.
Another dislike is that for a desktop replacement I prefer all the cables to connect to the rear. On this Laptop absolutely nothing connects to the rear. The hinge is low on the main body and results in a stronger hinge. Unfortunately that requires all the cables to come out the sides that takes up desk space and interfere with your work surface.
