"$20 per color page" on by DrBukk
Pros: It can print.
Cons: $248 of toner, print 99.9% B&W and 30 color pages, all cartridges empty in month. Repair service: nothing wrong. Brother advises print only monochrome, and B&W pages use other colors. So the report can claim you printed thousands of color pages.

"Prints beautifully until it bleeds." on by egregiouso
Pros: Sharp color, gray-scale and B&W printing on small jobs.
Cons: Slow printing, blows through ink and it bleeds.
Summary: I chose this printer for our office due to its positive reviews and affordable price, and because our network guy insisted that we buy a Brother after a string of problematic HP printers. Despite its high ink consumption, it printed crisply right until the warranty expired, then it started to bleed color on the edges on jobs larger than 500 sheets, then 200, then 100, now its down to about 25 sheets you can print before it starts to bleed, ruining the print job. We produce a lot of materials in color that need to look sharp, and having splotchy striped bleeds of red and yellow on 1/4 inch of the page is simply not acceptable. I don't know if it's a problem with this model or just our printer, but it is pretty much a large paperweight at this point and we are again wasting money at Kinkos.

"Just bought - setup" on by lawyerjohn1
Pros: Just bought yesterday. Setup was not difficult.
Cons: None yet. Just bought it.
Summary: Just bought so I can't give much opinion yet. I bought at Office Depot and paid $59 for two year warranty. Don't normally buy those but I have had bad luck with lasers in the past (they were HPs). I have a law office and will use mostly black and white, but will need color for exhibits. I will post later on how I think color works.

"Great Printer we have 6." on by TimHSRSS
Pros: Compatibility with Windows Server 2003
Excellent phone support
Network PrintingCons: Like most lasers the toner lasts for ages but when it runs out it's very expensive to replace.
Colors seem slightly dull in some applications relative to other printers.Summary: We have operated 6 of these printers for the past year, 5 are in low use applications, 1 in high use. We can usually find them for %50 off through our local staples.
No major issues were reported. Minor issues with the printers were resolved quickly through brother phone support, (they even corrected a software issue which turned out to be MS Office rather than hardware related).
We would buy this model again, in fact we plan to. -
"Great value at the price I paid, $250." on by barstewart
Pros: Easy set-up on a Mac. Good text quality, relatively quick printing. Great value.
Cons: Smelly chemical odour, when printing. BIg and heavy, if you don't have much space. Not great on photo prints, as the colours are quite muted and colour is not accurate. But hey ? it's colour, which is great for charts and graphs and special text.
Summary: I love the great price I got this printer for, on sale at Staples for $250 Canadian. Our school got 2 at the same time as I got one for home. They have been performing very well and were easy to set up on Macs. At home, I now have one Mac hard-wired to it and two other Macs printing wirelessly.
Some have found that they cannot print pages with lots of graphics, as the printer needs some extra RAM. This can be found for less than $15 for the 128 Mb card, if you shop around the net.
If you get the same deal or better, get it!
