"Got the 3110CN this afternoon. Seems to be great printer!"
Pros: fast setup, network friendly, fast, good photos
Cons: envelopes wrinkle
Summary: Got the 3110CN this afternoon (7/20/06). The huge box seemed to be well packaged, taped and secured. Opened it up and set it up. It took a whole of 30 minutes to unpack, install cartridges, install 512MB memory card, plug in to home network, install drivers and print my first test page. WOW!!!!! I tested the printer on hi res photos, charts & graphs, stationary, etc. I am impressed. The hi res photo was outstanding for a laser! The blacks were solid black. I have an Epson Picture Mate Photo printer that is one of the best photo printers you can buy and I compared the two with photos and was amazing. I blew the 3110CN photo up to 8-1/2 x 11 and it printed it with impressive clarity and speed (due to added memory). The only drawback as I see it is printing envelopes. I printed 2 using the multipurpose tray and it has a little wrinkling on the left side of the envelope. That's OK since I use a monocrome HP laser to print envelopes anyway. The printer is very quiet. After it initializes for a few seconds it prints hi res photos with impressive speed. My earlier HP Color Laser 4500N printed around 4PPM color at 600x600 and didn't come close to accuracy of the 3110CN. So it seems I'm spoiled now with the speed of the the 3110CN (which is the drawback of the older revolving drum technology. It is a fast color printer that I can use in printing larger volumns of material in much less time. Hopefully it will hold up for several years of moderate use. So far I feel it was a great bargain (at $499 with 1 year service, $199 duplexer and $71 extra memory), and am glad I went with the 3110CN instead of the 3100CN. Will see in the coming days, weeks and months. Will update my rating, if necessary, after a reasonable period of use.Updated
Since my first post I received a few weeks later the optional duplexer unit. The instructions were simple and it installed securely beneath the image unit. DOUBLE WOW!!!! It is so nice to buy 28lb. Office Depot Color Copy paper (inexpensive) and produce a double-sided brochure that takes half the postage to send clients. I have found the speed per printed side to equal the speed of a single printed page. Nice option if saving postage costs or a professional publishing look is important to you. Will let you know how things fair after a little wear and tear.

Your review on the Dell 3110cn was insightful and I just took delivery on one. Thank you. I have a question concerning installation of 1GB of RAM. I see a plug in spot in the middle left side of the circuit board. Is this where the new memory card plugs in? Am I to remove the memory that came installed? Thank you, David Klosterman
