Pros you can once in a while get something to print right, Setup was easy
Cons paper jam every time it is used, prints extra grahpics on page, does not stop after job is done paper
Summary This printer has a paper jam 85% of the time using it, It prints extra lines sometimes code on the sheet of paper, I cant use it to print my reports on it because of that, It does not stop spooling paper out when a job is done, it just continues to print page with just one line of characters on it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to buy this, I have had this printer for about 2 years and it has just been so frustrating. Please do NOT buy this printer. This is the first time i have ever had to write a bad review on cnet. So i usually do not trash any product without a good reason.
"Great Printer"on by no_ghia
Pros Great price. Reasonable toner cost. Good Features. Solid construction.
Cons Bland aesthetics.
Summary This is just a solid printer. I'll admit that I felt like I was taking a chance when I strayed from my usual HP printer purchases for small workgroup and individual printers, but Dell had a buy-one-get-one-free deal when these first came out and I felt that it was worth the risk. I haven't been disappointed. These printers start up quickly, print flawlessly, and have been trouble-free since purchase. We have 2 1720DN models connected via their ethernet ports. Setup of these two on the network was no different than any other network printer. The most recent purchase was for the 1720 base model. It has not been in operation for long enough for me to form much of an opinion, but out of the box, the setup was easy and it has been working pretty much as I would expect.
I am not in the habit of blindly buying equipment from any particular vendor and I have certainly gotten a few stinkers from Dell, but amongst many fantastic printers from HP, there have also been a few turds.
All I can say is that in this case, this model has been a winner for me.
Pros Over 30,000 pages in 5 months in our office and we just had to replace the drum and cartridges. Almost all text printing.
Cons cartridges are a little more costly and the separate drum has to be replaced at 30,000 pages
Summary Solid performer, low initial cost and has been reliable
Pros fast, good qualtiy
Cons very bad when tring to print color prints
Summary If printing only black and white documents, this is a great printer. If you are printing docs or images that are color, the gray scale this printer uses (which you can't change) makes some of the print unreadable.
I would not purchase this printer unless you are only every going to print black and white documents.
Pros Fast, compact, easy, I like gray and black
Cons twenty five pounds it's a chunk.
Summary I drive a truck and use a computer to compose my logbook and this printer is very cool for the drivers daily log program. I will have to throw my TV out to make room that's OK TV sucks anywho.
