Pros: Great price. Reasonable toner cost. Good Features. Solid construction.

    Cons: Bland aesthetics.

Summary: This is just a solid printer. I'll admit that I felt like I was taking a chance when I strayed from my usual HP printer purchases for small workgroup and individual printers, but Dell had a buy-one-get-one-free deal when these first came out and I felt that it was worth the risk. I haven't been disappointed. These printers start up quickly, print flawlessly, and have been trouble-free since purchase. We have 2 1720DN models connected via their ethernet ports. Setup of these two on the network was no different than any other network printer. The most recent purchase was for the 1720 base model. It has not been in operation for long enough for me to form much of an opinion, but out of the box, the setup was easy and it has been working pretty much as I would expect.
I am not in the habit of blindly buying equipment from any particular vendor and I have certainly gotten a few stinkers from Dell, but amongst many fantastic printers from HP, there have also been a few turds.
All I can say is that in this case, this model has been a winner for me.
