"You usually can't have your cake and eat it too"
Pros: network, cheap, fast, compact, low toner cost
Cons: noisy, low toner yield
Summary: Printer broke down so I needed a new printer.
Before that my old laser printer (Lexmark Optra E+) was freaking me out because if the computer it was connected to was shut down the entire network couldn't print. And the user of that computer did so frequently.
So I wanted a network printer. While looking around on the net I almost got a heart attack from the prices. 500 euro +
Until I found the Brother HL2070N. At its 265 euros only half the price of the other printers (I know still expensive but here in europe we have to pay VAT at 21%). Called the shop on february the 1st, it wasn't released yet in Belgium. Release date first week of March. Considering the price of other network printers, I decided to wait. First week of March I called the shop again, not in yet. Probably end of the week. 2 weeks later I got my printer. Not really a thumbs up for Brother's logistics.
But the machine itself installed like a charm, but it you couldn't push the installation to the rest of the network from one computer.
Then printing.
76 pages in under 4 minutes is fast enough in my book. (Printers should't be to fast, would like to keep my extra coffee breaks intact)
The only thing I noticed is that it sounds a bit like a vacuum cleaner while printing.
I did not like that but considering it has a network plug you can put it anywhere you have a cable so you don't hear it that much.
Another thing is that my old printer appearantly had bigger toner but were double the price I pay now for a TN-2000
So overall improvement.
