"WARNING - READ FRIST !!!" on by sbirdsc
Pros: Print quality, pricing*
Cons: No paper tray
Summary: Just an issue to be aware of, if you call HP directly they will tell you that this unit comes with a 125 page tray. This is NOT the case - NO tray is included in this base model. The website says "Keep various paper types ready to go in the included 125-sheet multipurpose tray and optional 250- and 500-sheet trays" The included tray is a 1, 25 page feed that would require you leaving the front of the unit open all the time. Figure to add another $150 to the price then compare it to others on the market.

"Good, not perfect, overall SOHO color laser" on by davelangton
Pros: Economical color laser with decent graphics
Cons: Loud start-up, flimsy paper tray & guides
Summary: Loud, annoying start-up cycle. B&W text on par with my workhorse 4P. Good, but not great graphics on photo stock. Paper guides are FLIMSY, I must babysit large print jobs to prevent paper from feeding askew. Overall though, good compromise between $ and performance.

"Good user level Color Laser" on
Pros: Nice print quality. Not photo realistic, but still good graphics, and sharp text. Cost per page is far cheaper than an inkjet.
Cons: Default memory is only 64MB, which causes issues. If you buy this printer, also get an extra 128MB stick of memory for it. Do not get the WAY overpriced HP memory, get the Kingston KTH-LJ4100/128. It can be had for as little as US$60 online and is a d

"Very good printer for around $500 that still prints well" on by BettySWAT
Pros: great b/w, decent 4c, small overall size for laserjet - great for limited space
Cons: very loud internal parts, needs more memory, small clumsy paper tray
Summary: Prints just fine from Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, Excel and Word on Mac OSX. I'm the A.D. for S.W.A.T. Magazine, and I use this printer to send b/w copies of my layouts to my editors. I print *large* InDesign documents with PDFs and images, and I use a lot of fonts. After a while the memory ran out and documents did not want to print, but printing my enormous files 20 pages at a time at 2 copies is a lot to ask - spool 2 to 4 pages at a time and the 2550 prints fast without a burp. I also use a 5000 and 5500C, and the 2550L is a very decent machine.
