Pros color printing is professional quality althought ink consumption is very high
Cons 1/2 the time you need to unplug then plug it back in to get it to print. I've owned this printer for a year and it there is no rhyme nor reason as to when it will and won't print.
Summary buy something else
Pros NONE. The ONLY reason that I gave it half of a star was because this website wouldn't let me give it zero stars.
Cons My first and 3rd printers made horrible screeching noise when turned on, and the prints came out completely black. On the second one, the display and lights didn't even turn on. 3 printers in 1 week, I'd expect 1 of them to work!!!
Summary When I first bought the printer directly from HP, they had a $100 instant rebate. I also had a $30 off a purchase of $150 or more from Office Max, and I asked if they could match it. They said they would give me an additional $25 off, so I said ok. They told me that they would put notes in the computer, and that when I got the printer, to call back, and they would give me the $25 credit. So I got my first printer, and as soon as I turned it on, it started making horrible screeching noises, and the prints came out entirely black. I called tech support, and they said their system was down and that they couldn't troubleshoot it, so they would just exchange it. (To get a job with HP tech support, don't you have to have a college degree in computers? Shouldn't they have been able to help me without having to read something off of a computer screen that someone else had already typed???) Anyway, the guy transfered me to a customer service rep. She emailed me a return slip. I then asked her about the $25 credit that I was supposed to receive, and she said that I was supposed to get that when I got the printer and it was working, but since I had to exchange it, (and even mentioned that they were doing an exchange for free, like they were doing me some kind of huge favor) that I couldn't get the credit. WHHHHAAAAATTTTT?????? So I argues, and she put me on hold while she checked to see what she could do, then finally came back and said they would do it. So I get my 2nd printer. The lights and the display screen didn't light up or turn on, but the printer did. So I immediately called customer service for a return. The lady told me that I should have called tech support first. I argued back that part of the machine just wouldn't turn on, and that there was nothing that tech support could do to help me with that, and rather than spend another hour on the phone with 5 different people asking me my name, phone number, email address and all that crap just so they can add me to their database for demographic reasons, I called customer service instead. She proceeded to tell me that they couldn't do another exchange, and that they had to completely refund and rebill my credit card. Then when she went to tell me the new price, she told me it was full price again, and that HP stopped doing the rebate I guess a day or 2 ago. I told her that there was NO WAY after THEY sent me 2 BAD PRINTERS that I shoud be expected to pay full price because the sale had stopped. She put me on hold AGAIN to check to see what she could do. (At the company I work for, there wouldn't even be a question on that, we would just automatically DO IT TO HELP THE CUSTOMER). So then she came back, and said that they could do it. I then get my 3rd printer in the mail. It is making the SAME SCREECHING NOISE and printing the copies out all black, just like my first one. I still have yet to call them back on this one. I know I will have to schedule AT LEAST 1 hour out of my day (and that's being generous) to sit on hold. GRRRRR!!!!!!! Not only is the product junk, but the customer service is HORRIBLE!!! If I gave that kind of performance and "I don't give a crap because I'm halfway around the world" attitude in my job, I'd be fired. Seriouslly, think about it, if some big company in India or WHEREVER outsourced working in a call center to people in America, and gave you a phone line that had no direct extension (beleive me, I asked everyone I talked to) AND a policy where they only give you first names (which created a climate of ABSOLUTELY NO ACCOUNTABILITY for the individual helping you) would you really care??? NO!!!! This WHOLE experience has been a nightmare. One of the reasons I bought the printer is I went on a few websites, and it have nothing but good reviews. I plan to go on every website I find that sells this thing and post my experience, in hopes that people will think twice about buying this piece of junk!!!
Pros Decent speed, nice user interface, nice media handling.
Cons Toner very hard to find. Very expensive, recycled cartridges not availablle outside of UK. High yield cartrides not available.
Summary Bought early on expecting other toner sources to appear in the market to move the HP colorspere cartridge price points down due to competition and to have the abillity to be green friendly through recycled cartidges. This market has not appeared. Take the yield numbers with a grain of salt. Most people use color where color is important and for laser color the density per page is greater. This means you are likely using black and white for drafts and text documents. But if you are using color for a Powerpoint slide the numbers of pages per cartridge drop per the higher usage. So don't plan on the cartridge yield number being accurate for your situation. As with cars and cartridges yue MPG may vary. A complete cartridge reload costs more that the street price of the printer. Your MPG/ page counts will vary!
Pros Easy set-up. CD with instructions was very easy to follow. Love the size and the look. Sample print at store had that WOW factor.
Cons When I first saw this printer I was amazed at how crisp the colors were. I am sure all printers have flaws, but for this to happen on 3 printers. 2 printers made grinding noise. I think HP really needs to look at what the common problem was and fix it
Summary I first bought this printer at one of the office supply stores. Brought it home, set it up. I wanted to print something on both sides. The screen said the printer did not have enough memory. I returned it. Bought one on line at HP store, Very blotchy printing and made a horrible noise - grinding, shipped it back. Another was shipped out, before I could even print anything out the noise was twice as bad as the other one, grinding. The first print - test, was all blue, tried another same thing. Shipped it back. I wanted to use this for my business, but I think I might look at other printers. Will not reccomend this to anyone. I like all my other HP products, but not sure if I'll buy another HP printer. I have spoke to some other people who also are unhappy with HP printers. Quality v Quantity.
Pros great color, starts up quickly, easy to install, front load, front access makes for clean desk cabinet placement
Cons power button buried on the left back corner, printer s/w messed up the HP Scanner s/w but HP On-line Service worked thru the problem and sent me corrected s/w so both work fine now
Summary Great little color laser printer. Have had an HP5 Laser forever (and still works), but tired of dried up Photosmart InkJet cartridges. Picked this one up for $199 !! Just beware the software hiccups, which was odd given all were HP products.
