"Fast Printer, poor overall value"
Pros: Fast printer, loud while printing so you know its working
Cons: Single Sheet Feeder is &*^%$ crap crap crap
Summary: Nice size and very fast printer for its cost. Toner is expensive $70 for 2500 sheets, about 3X the cost 5 years ago (3 cents a sheet vs 1 cent). Ths single sheet feeder is pure crap. The engineers must have NEVER tested it before releasing it. Took 15 attempts to get 5 sheets printed. Has 3 modes of loudness. Very loud while printing, Loud in idle mode, quiet in standby mode. As a reseller I have bought many HP laserjets over the years. This one flunks. If you buy a bigger model you will save in the long run due to the expensive toner that this one uses.

I have priced out toner for several different models of printer, and this one is on par with all of them. The same page yeild for my 5P is actually MORE expensive than toner for this model. Don't even ask how much the same page yeild for my 5,000 GN costs
.
The reliability of this product far out weighs the slightly higher toner cost. And I'm willing to pay the price of remanufactured toner packs, for this 20 PPM print speed! -
the HP 5949A toner cartridge is not a very good deal, no, but the 5949X toner nets about 6,000 pages for $110 (i get mine through newegg.com, in quantity it drops to $100 per). i run a small press with it, and regularly get upwards of 9000 pages of poetry.
in the 60 or 70,000 sheets i've run through my first one, i've had between 20 and 25 jams. i'm okay with that ratio. -
Noise level and duplex are non-issues.
