"The printer worked well when it worked."
Pros: The paper handling worked well, and the toner cartridge lasted well. I am still using the first one.
Cons: Performance began to be irregular. It was necessary to turn it off and then on to print, and then it would not wake up. It has tended to freeze. The IP address is gone. The formatting board appears to be defective, and there is no response.
Summary: The warranty has expired, and the original cartridge still contains enough toner to print more pages. HP was slow to respond, and their advice didn't work. They did say that it might be a hardware problem. A local repair service will fix it for $365, but they will not guarantee that it will last more than 90 days. The technician recommended that I junk the P3005dn and buy another printer. This afternoon I will look at a Xerox, or perhaps another make, rather than HP.
