Pros This printer is great for quality. The colors are true.
Cons However, I purchase a laser ink cartridge often. They do not last long and they are very expensive to buy.
Summary I need to sell this printer because I can't afford to keep buying the ink. I had a dell laser printer and the cartidges lasted much longer.
I would not recommend this product.
Pros Compared with others in its class: the size/weight is not overwhelming. Print quality is very good. Duplexing or double-sided print. Wired ethernet. 1200 dpi capable. Compatible with Macs.
Cons A tad slow on the first page but nothing unusually long.
Summary Picked this up at Staples nearby for $331 after CA taxes. Nice sale. Came with a mfg 2 yr warranty free. I was looking for something with decent color printing, duplexing, and ethernet that printed at least 20ppm. I couldnt believe I found all this for the price I paid - NIB too! Staples allowed for a 14 day return period if I didnt like it for a full refund and no restocking fee. Setup was a snap on my Mac. Box says that it supports all the latest flavors of Windows as well which is great. Replacement of toners is very easy and it comes with high capacity toners right out of the box. I was also very pleased that it supports up to 1200 dpi as most others in this class only seemed to support 600. For the feature set, its hard to beat at this price. Toner costs are very comparable to other printers in the same class.
Pros Excellent print quality, excellent print speed, setup is easy, overall a great value, especially if you get it at a sale price. Not too big and heavy, comes with high capacity cartridges, reliability so far is excellent. I really like this one.
Cons Wow, the lights really do dim when this thing is printing. High power drain, even though it hasn't tripped the surge protector it's plugged into. I thought the other reviewers were joking, but it's the truth. Not really a con, power use is normal.
Summary I really wasn't sure what my next color laserjet printer would be; I went into this project with a totally open mind, considering every brand on the market. And I did. Six months of research led into a year-long compilation of revolving "top 3" printers, yet I could never narrow it down to one. Suddenly, almost divinely, this printer showed up on the top of my list and went on sale at Office Max, at the same time I really NEEDED a good laser printer at home. When I loaded it in the car and brought it home, I felt good about it. When I looked at my printed project through reading glasses, I felt GREAT about the purchase! My last printer was a Konica-Minolta 2300dl, and it worked the ass off that printer for 9 years, going through 3 sets of cartridges. I sense that this one is going to provide me (and the person who inherits it) with at least that much service time, at a higher quality and with faster speeds, and at full duplex. One interesting note is that I read several reviews about how the lights dim when this thing is printing, and it is the truth - when I print a 40 or 50 page document, I observe the lights dimming in unison with every printed page. The printer has not tripped the power strip's circuit breaker, and for most of the day it is in "power saving" mode. Just don't be surprised when you witness the phenomenon for yourself. Me? I love this printer!
Pros Size, it's compact.
Cons Nearly everything else. You have to babysit this thing nonstop. It's slow to process and slow to print, and the manual feed takes ONE sheet at a time. I have had multiple jobs come out as code, wasting tons of paper!
Summary Summary: don't buy this printer. It's one of the worst I've ever used.
Pros Double sided copies are great, nice color prints.
Cons Expensive toner that only lasts for about 150 copies. I want my money back.
Summary Total Rip Off... I think Lexmark is only filling their cartridges with 10% of the ink they advertising. I want my money back, I totally regret not getting a new printer for the $300 which would have come with toner. At this rate the landfills are going to be full with these things.
