Manufacturer description

The Magicolor 2450 is an ultra-compact color laser PostScript compatible printer that delivers the best graphical performance in its class. Fast and with superb print quality, it's the ideal solution for the demanding, graphics-intense workloads of a small to medium-sized workgroup. Size is no guarantee of strength, as the Magicolor 2450 demonstrates perfectly. Taking up little space on a desk, it prints at 5 pages per minute in color and 20 pages per minute in mono, with first page printout in just 12 seconds. The Magicolor 2450 utilizes 600 x 600 x 4 dpi Photo ART contone technology for unrivalled print quality. Print quality and consistency is further refined through the use of Simitri polymerized toners and eAIDC (enhanced Automatic Image Density Control). The result is photo-quality prints from a small printer that have to be seen to be believed. Power is delivered by means of an Emperon controller. This provides superb compatibility and versatility, allowing printing from any major application and environment. Still more power comes in the form of rapid page processing and 128 MB RAM, allowing you to speed through heavy print jobs in no time.

Great colour. Poor text. Noisy.

Pros: Low purchase price. Crisp colour.

Cons: Poor text repro even at maximum resolution. Noisy. Paper-fussy.

Review: No complaints about colour repro and sharpness, but the reproduction of black text is very disappointing, even at maximum resolution and after trying all sorts of software tweaks in the computer. The machine is also noisy in operation, but settles down to silence on stand-by. It's also fussy about paper. It accepts most 80gsm sheets, but 90gsm jams frequently (which unfortunately means letterhead, too). You can effectively forget using anything heavier than 90gsm in my experience. Unlike other reviewers on other sites, I think the shelf arrangement for the paper tray is clever and makes access ultra-easy.

Amazing color and quality

Pros: The resolution and color are unmatched for a laser at this price

Cons: Somewhat slow, but okay for a small/home office; somewhat loud

Review: We have a small office for landscape architecture and spatial planning. We needed a printer that could produce high-quality photos/graphics more than we needed speed. We found this printer for under $500 and decided to go with it over a Dell (which we found to be too large and heavy) and an HP (which didn't quite have the photo output that we needed). I was astounded by the quality of the photos printed from Photoshop using the PostScript drivers and the printer's photo settings. It is worth waiting for the high quality; the wait can't be much longer than the other color lasers at this price point (and is certainly in line with the inkjet printers we use too, which seem to print faster because you can see the progress). Also the per-page costs are average for color laser, but the color quality and environmental benefits of reduced toner usage make this THE printer to buy. I highly recommend it.

I just bought this printer two days ago and I love it

Pros: good image and color

Cons: bit noisy but may be its how it is with all mech parts

Review: I bout this printer two days ago, I think I know it should be 9600dpi but (if I didnt miss it) on manual and box there is no ref. to that in printer driver there are only two setings 600 low and 600 high. prints are good and I love the fact it is small and came with full toners (not starter)
