"OFFICIAL REVIEW IS BOGUS"
Pros: THE PRINTER DOES NOT HAVE A LASER IN IT AT ALL. ITS A SOLID INK PRINTER. The printer is intended to give you a fast office printer with out the startup or supply cost of a single pass laser.
Cons: Uses alot of power. 1500 watts on power up and 15 amps. Recomend not turning it off at night.
Summary: Tekronix/Xerox Solid ink technology has been on the market for almost 10 years. Its really sad that CNET and other reviewing bodies still dont know how to review it. I own 4 of these. 2 phaser 850's, a phaser 860 and a phaser 8400. I also own an HP 3700dtn, which I hardly use. It costs twice as much to run, and only does 600 x 600 dpi. Im printing a local outdoor guide that i publish on a monthly basis, and I use these like printing presses. After I have my final draft I send 250 copies to each printer, tell it to collate and come back in an hour. Trying to compare this to either a laser or a solid ink is really unfair. First of all if you set it up properly and use it right you should be getting at least 18 ppm in color, not 8. The ink is sprayed onto a cylidrical drum and then the paper is wrapped around it, like a printing press. If you can find a laser in this printer, then I will sell you my lakeside property in the sahara dessert.Updated
I said its unfair to compare it to solid ink or laser, I meant Inkjet or Laser. This IS a solid ink printer.

Xerox inks are pricey. I have considered using compatiables but would like to know if they are safe to use. Any one with experience? What Brand?
