"Disposable printer, its cheaper to buy a new one"
Pros: the print quality is good when it is new!
documentation was pretty good, on a disc though have to print it out.Cons: consumables! consumables! consumables will eat you alive!
Summary: This is the second CL3500 I have owned. The first one lasted pretty long, about a year, and then the prints as they approached 20,000 started to get blotchy. Looked in the manual and it was time to replace the CPU units. The printer also tells you when to replace these and stops printing eventually unless you replace them. The printer cost me $350 initially. The new PCU color and B/W units cost me $450. What was I thinking! The second set of PCU units did not last a month before bad looking prints came out. After returning them for free replacements they failed quickly again. This time bought another new CL3500 printer for $320. This one lasted 4 months before the black PCU unit went bad. Replaced it cause the black is only $120, but it only lasted 2 months! The biggest problem with this printer is that the drums are on these very expensive PCU units and I am thinking that some dust or dirt is scratching them and then it is all over for them. I am completely replacing this printer with something else, something that will take a rebate trade-in so I can get my money back. This truly is a disposable printer. It eats a lot of toner too which is also the same price to replace as a new printer.
quiet when idle but noisy when printing.
