Pros Great Size, Mac compatible, good price
Cons Just doesnt print well
Summary I was excited to purchase this color laser printer when it was announced. Other Samsung Color printers had been excellent and this was the first one which would be small enough for my home office.
Size wise it is great, but unfortunately that is where the story ends. Performance wise it gives acceptable color text performance, but anything needing pictures, it bleeds horribly. Some pages the text bleeds also.
I am returning it!
Pros Small footprint; decent colour; adequate speed
Cons quit printing colour after 6 mos. of light use; after being told to include the toner, replacement unit was returned without toner. Handling of the return unit by HiNet (Canada repair) was terrible and Samsung completely indifferent.
Summary I have a Samsung Blu-Ray, a computer monitor, and a CLP 320 Colour Laser. I was very satisfied with all products. However, the printer began printing in B&W only after 6 months. My initial contact with CS was helpful and the unit returned to HiNet (Toronto), complete with the toner cartridges on the advice of the agent. The unit required replacement apparently; took almost a month to get back. I was not advised when it would be returned or provided with tracking information, so I returned from a trip to find out it was now in a depot 30 kms. away. It came in a box that looked like it had been through a war zone (was sent out in the original carton in perfect condition) without the toner I sent as I assumed it would be required to assist in determining the cause of the problem. On contacting Samsung, their response was that the instructions say not to send additional stuff--apparently the tray doesn't count--"Sorry, but go away..." is their official policy. I must now either buy new cartriges for about $220 retail, or a new printer for half that amount. They apparently either consider me a liar, or condone a company whose policy is to: a) keeps parts which should not have been sent without notifying the client; b) provides replacement units not properly cleaned; c) pack the unit in a poor quality box; d)provides no tracking or delivery advice;
Mass produced electronics break down. Would you want this level of service? I know my answer.
Pros None.......well its cheap.
Cons Everything, jams constantly, wastes toner, support pointless and print quality awful. I could go on......
Summary The biggest waste of money you could possibly find in the printer market. I bought it on the premise that samsung are a very respectable and capable electronics manufacturer but it seems they gave the project of building the Samsung clp-300 to a bunch of blindfolded 1 year olds. It jams constantly, the print quality is poor and occasionally it dumps entire toner cartridges into the waste cartridge. When I asked Samsung how I could sort it out they told me to buy a new imaging unit which would have cost me an arm and a leg and may as well buy a new printer. Of course all these problems started happening almost exactly after the warrantee ran out. What a fool I was thinking that this could be a good purchase. Stick to proper printer manufacturers I reckon and pay the extra amount. I get better reliability with my canon 3 in 1 jobbie that cost me £30
Pros Easy access to vital organs, paper loads and toners.
Cons none yet . not expecting photo quality from a portable laser printer .
Summary Fixed paper jam error. I opened the front cover and removed the two screws that are under each corner of the toner door cover . Remove screws and pull top gently toward you while lifting straight up from the front . There are two tabs under the back that will disengage as you pull the top towards you . The top lifts straight up, there are no wires or plugs to unhook .(CLP-300) . See the little switch in the back left corner (with cover off) . It is flat , pointing towards the front and mounted on a small rod . Turn printer off, close front and rear printer doors , press that little switch down and turn printer back on. If your printer responds with a ready in the smart panel , turn it off and carefully reinstall the top. Both tabs on top must engage the little hole on the printer and the top mus be on straight . The top also MUST press that little switch down or you will get a paper jam error. Or at least I do on my printer. I believe a shock to the case , ie accidental bump or drop something on it , kids whatever can jar the back left top loose and that little switch pops up and it's done ! In 5 minutes I found the cause of the error jamb and had a working free printer .
Pros It prints sometimes.
Cons The red light is on more than it is off. i quit using this machine for some time. i had replaced it. Then i needed a laser printer for a project, so i got it out of storage. Now i remember why i quit using it. It is just too much trouble. i have given up.
Summary Save your money and patience. i wouldn't write this review if I thought maybe my machine was a lemon, but after reading other reviews, it seems the norm. i give the printer a big don't buy.
