Pros -Price as of Jan/05: $560.00CDN (after rebates) -One of the really nice things about its appeal is its ability to handle duplex print jobs. -The other is its speed in B&W printing (20PPM @ 5% coverage). -USB 2.0
Cons -I’ve found the unit having a tough time printing on heavy card stock (>80lbs). 80% of the time the machine would jam before it ever reached the transfer belt. -Toner had a hard time fusing onto the paper when printing colour (black and white prints se
Pros Faster b&w speed than my HP6pse. Good color speed, and reasonable duplex speed. Print quality good. Auto-shut off/sleep when idle. Easy to assemble. Cartridge loading easy. Fairly quiet.
Cons LCD screen hard to read & controls less than intuitive. Clunking noise when using sheet feeder. Refilled toner not yet readily available. Standard paper tray somewhat flimsy. When printing cardstock have experienced color transfer white spots and blac
Pros Yes, the machine takes a while to warm up. I have had mine now for over 6 months, and I have had no jams or problems with the printer. Networks easy, prints just fine. Qualiy of the prints are O.K. to fair when you compair this laser printer to my $500
Cons Had to purchase a printer stand for this large and heavy printer. The Toner is rather pricey, but i get $30.00 and $50.00 savings coupons from staples, and I use them to purchase the toner for my printer. A real money saver.
Pros Good quality color printing on regular paper. Quiet Easy paper handling.
Cons Takes a LONG time to 'wake up' out of sleep mode. Consumables add up quickly, $120 for each color cartridge (there are four) PLUS $20-$30 for waste toner tank (they make it so you can't just dump it out and replace it...what a racket!) So within 6 months,
Pros duplex, drivers
Cons very bad image quality, noise printing, missing cables
Summary I tested this one and also a newer one CLP-510, all i can say is that the printing quality is not 1200 DPI, i dont know how they set 1200 DPI but its even less then 300 DPI, with unsharp printing, and texts are not crisp. Printer in that price with duplex is very nice option, but the noise that comes from it is horrible. I've tested 4 color printers, Samsung CLP-500/CLP-510, Lexmark 510C, HP Color LaserJet 3500. The Lexmark comes with ethernet port, so you can use it in network, and is really fast. But the best printout quality is from 600x600 HP ... whit photoret 2400 what is actualy the best print quality from all of these printers. So if HP is 600*600 DPI and gets nice sharp pictures, than this Samsung is very pour in printing quality but it got duplex.
