"Decent printer, Especially if you can buy it for under $200." on by chunkyckn
Pros: Blazing Fast print speed. Clear quality on the text prints. Easy to setup network features.
Cons: Smelly, Heavy! weighs about 60lbs and it's BIG when compared to other printers of this spec. Color prints is sub par. Don't even bother to print photos with this.
Summary: This samsung printer is decent printer. When I was doing my research, I was was debating between this printer, the Lexmark c520n, Oki 3800n and the Oki 5500n. All of the printers listed have great color prints except for the Samsung which cost just as much.
However, I purchased this printer for $105 brand new after rebate andI simply can't complain about the cost. Saving me $300+ is very important. I can use that money to buy more ink for my ink jet. LOL.
The bottom line, if you're looking for a good color photo printer, then stay away from this. If you're looking for a network, fast, laser printer with the ability to print average color quality prints, this is a nice bargain, especially if you can find one for under $200. -
"Finiky - Too Much Down Time w/ Bad Paper Feed, + Expensive Toner Cartridges" on by BrisonLee
Pros: Able to Network Only 1 Out Of 3 Computers in the Same Room
Cons: SEVERAL / Paper Feeder, Toner Cartridge Cost, Repairs Difficult Due to Size
Summary: A finicky printer fraught with printing problems, it is expensive at $500 + $500 for toner cartridges. We had problems with it right out of the box. After 1 month and many calls to Samsung's Tech Support to solve a myriad of printing & networking problems, we finally got it up and running (briefly).
This CLP 600 has difficulties feeding a vast majority of types & weights of standard office paper.
Samsung Tech Support & Customer Care have told me to avoid the following paper:
1. Samsung doesn't approve use of ANY CARDSTOCK paper
2. Samsung doesn't approve use of lighter weight paper
3. Samsung doesn't approve use of ANY BROCHURE-weight paper
4. Samsung doesn't approve use of glossy paper
5. Samsung doesn't approve use of our engraved business letterhead
6. Standard weight paper, 20# and 24# also incurs paper-jams.
# 1 PROBLEM: PAPER FEEDER DIFFICULTIES CAUSING CONSTANT PAPER-JAMS - even on "Samsung-approved weight paper".
This PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED when the paper feeder shreds the paper inside the inner-workings of the machine. When bits of shredded paper grind the printer to a halt, Samsung Tech Support only suggests repairs by an authorized repair center because the shredded paper cannot be removed without dismantling the machine.
Ordinarily, paper jams are only frustrating, but when paper shreds deep inside the machine, we incur costly shipping expenses and long-term, down-time. Even with a 3-year extended warranty, it is very expensive to ship the 45-lb printer to the nearest `authorized` repair center 140 miles away. The machine is much too huge for our large sedan, so it must be picked up by UPS, which costs a fortune due to the 45-lb weight.
WARNING: Paper-jams are inevitable with double-sided printing.
Buyers should be aware that the original cartridges sold with the printer are UNDER-FILLED with a minimal amount of toner. Soon after purchase, you will have to buy 4 new toner cartridges that will COST as much or MORE THAN THE PRINTER - $500.
Finally, light colors do not print well. The light tones have the appearance of water smears.
These problems have yet to be corrected by Samsung.
My confidence in Samsung was further diminished after talking to their tech support many, many times in an effort to solve the paper feed problems. Samsung seems to have written off the customers who are having problems with this equipment. Customer retention does not seem to be of interest to Samsung.
I must emphasize how much I REGRET THIS PURCHASE
